@mattyglesias “Obama won twice so we should get more right wing” worked for Republicans, so, why couldn’t the opposite be true? I don’t think the median voter wants to be lectured about sensible solutions and bipartisanship anymore.
@steady_drumbeat@ditty_design I think my favorite part is when they argue you could get a two for one of cheap housing and transportation by removing air filtration from apartments by highways. Really splendid piece
@windydanchou@StreetsblogNYC The majority of these are camera tickets, they’re automated, by definition they’re not discretionary. Just because you’re paying the fine for breaking the law doesn’t mean you should be allowed to keep breaking it. We are too generous with traffic enforcement.
@Acyn Overheard in Moderate locker room after Manifesto Launch: “He got me,” Gottheimer said of Zohran’s dunk over him. "That f***ing Mamdani boomed me." Gottheimer added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times.
We literally do public employee pay scales at every level of government it’s not a problem. I just wish any of these political commentators had any real government experience
I also don't actually think public employment would be popular once anyone started talking about implementation:
Is it one salary for everyone? If not, are we maintaining people's most recent salaries? How are you deciding what jobs people do?
The second any of this gets debated in any detail it's going to become extremely toxic imo
My Uber driver in Branson was a Kennedy-Goldwater-Nixon-Nixon-Ford-Reagan-Reagan-Bush-Dole-Bush-Bush-McCain-Romney-Trump-Trump-Trump voter. He said that after Tuesday’s primary results in New York, there’s no way he’ll ever vote for a Democrat again.
They're all so excited for this they're missing that it's clearly a grift. It's run by a college sophomore whose only job experience is a sinecure at WelcomePAC, a job his dad (the Director of Electoral Programs & Finance Chair) gave to him and seemingly driving his car a lot
A specter is haunting Europe, folks. Many say GHOST but I say SPECTER. I say it because it's much spookier, more serious. SPECTER! And it's the biggest specter we've ever seen.
Is it Hamas' fault for refusing to surrender, or did Biden fail by standing with Netanyahu? Matt Yglesias and Jerusalem Demsas don't see the war in Gaza the same way. Full debate out now: ranking the worst parts of the Biden presidency.

Yeah oversight of the executive is an important part of Congress, dipshit. You guys should get the ball rolling, maybe the door won’t hit you as hard on your way out
Speaker Johnson on losing Midterms:
“They [Democrats] will turn every committee of Congress into an investigative body, and they'll go after the president's family, the cabinet, his donors and friends…”
@admcrlsn Upstate GOP has been in a civil war for a while, I wouldn’t be surprised by Republican voter defections and Inds being turned off. Check out the contested nomination for ‘25 special in AD115 - and their failure to find a candidate to challenge this year
.@syracusedotcom reports two ICE agents tracked down a woman *inside a polling place* yesterday to demand that she take down an Insta post in which she named Jonathan Ross as the man who shot & killed Renee Good (after the Star Tribune identified Ross). https://t.co/WIB1hbqx5W
