Danielle Smith’s government has rejected a proposal that would have compelled it to respect the results of a referendum on whether Alberta should quit the Canada Pension Plan. We Albertans going to say “no”, but the UCP wants to be able to do it anyway. https://t.co/pYfDnk7Jgh
I just read the UCP’s cowardly pension workbook. I say “cowardly” because they’re offering this in place of the public town halls they initially promised. So, how bad is the government’s latest sales document dressed up as consultation? Let me count the ways. #AlbertaPensionScam
Never forget that at a time when Albertans are facing skyrocketing costs, a housing crisis, huge class sizes, and a healthcare system in shambles, one of the UCP’s priorities is giving themselves the power to accept fancier gifts. 🎁😐

The UCP has also introduced Bill 5 this session, which removes the cap on compensation for members of agencies, boards and commissions.
It repeals a bill we were proud to introduce as government to put an end to Tory entitlements and ballooning salaries.
This is why it’s important to pay attention to politics year round, not just during an election when politicians will lie & tell you what you want to hear to get elected. Smith has a long history of blabbing about her harmful plans. If you paid attention you know she’s lying now.
Should be legislation that all public buildings & workplaces have HEPA filters. Should be in the building code. It’s a cost likely way smaller than what society & employers will be paying because of chronic disease. @kylekasawski #CovidIsAirborne https://t.co/y18WYzm7Pv
The wrong diagnosis always creates the wrong treatment. The government has diagnosed the problem in Alberta’s health care system as being the structure of AHS. A far more serious problem is the shortage of nurses and other medical professionals, as well as beds and capacity. 3/
Justice Minister Mickey Amery is announcing legislation to suspend ethics commissioner investigations in the period before an election.
Of note: the former ethics commissioner concluded during the last election period that the Premier contravened the Conflicts of Interest Act.
Danielle Smith’s government lied about reason for Alberta renewables pause, documents show.
Good read here from @DrewPAnderson, who FOIPed a bunch of documents about the renewables pause, including briefing notes.

This bit of history seems VERY relevant: the guy who Danielle Smith is putting in charge of her big health reorganization, Lyle Oberg, is not just an ideological champion of privatized health care, he actually made it his business. #KeepHealthCarePublic https://t.co/d49bFxSsN0
This is a wild video clip compliments of @LukaszukAB…
Seems that the person that Smith just put in charge of AHS, including the decision as to whether to sell off EMS and labs has a bit of a history with private medicine…

So Lyle Oberg, who has been involved in a number of ventures to set up private hospitals abroad and in Canada, is the new Chair of AHS Board. What could go wrong? #ableg#abgov#abhealth
