✊🏾On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was brutally murdered in an act of police brutality that would ignite the largest mass movement in the history of the United States. Millions of people came out into the streets, here and around the world, in a new and even more massive wave of the movement for Black lives.
This enormous movement took place despite the pandemic lockdowns, with so many people recognizing the issue of police violence as a life or death issue that required everyone to take an urgent stand regardless of the circumstances. As the capitalist government abandoned working people amid the pandemic, the protests also became a way to express total rejection of a system that clearly had no regard for human life.
Because of the pressure of the people’s movement, the state had no choice but to indict and ultimately convict the police officers who murdered George Floyd. But the struggle against racist police brutality continues — an injustice built in to the very foundations of this system.
The vast wealth of the U.S. billionaire class has always been dependent on the exploitation and oppression of Black people. Racist violence has likewise been a permanent feature of this society as a way to sow terror. But as the movement of 2020 showed, there will always be massive resistance.
The 4th Amendment was supposed to prevent a surveillance state.
Yet we're surrounded by cameras, tracked by our phones, and surveilled without warrants.
It's not working.

Proud to endorse @hamawyfornj for Congress in #NJ12!
From Philly to Jersey, voters are demanding new leadership unafraid to stand up for justice and humanity. We must pass Medicare for All, abolish ICE, and end illegal wars. I look forward to building power with him in Congress.
The county hired a Florida company to "clean up" our voter rolls. But over 200 living, breathing Tarrant County voters got letters in the mail telling them to prove they were alive or lose their right to vote.
You read that right.
At our May meeting, my colleagues on Commissioners Court voted to renew that contract for another year with $45,000 of YOUR taxpayer money.
This is voter suppression disguised as election integrity. And it's another Tim Tax in action.
Before you head out to vote: go check your registration status and make sure you're still on the rolls.
I'm running for County Judge to put an end to this nonsense and restore integrity to our elections. Sign up at https://t.co/hbvQRP1rlK to stay updated on what's really happening in Tarrant County.

🚨Delta-8 may not be getting banned after all? That’s right! @TexasHempBiz President, Cynthia Cabrera, is here to break it down for you!
What this means ✅
- On May 28th, our injunction protecting Delta 8 will be lifted by the court.
- The state can choose to ban Delta 8 after May 28th.
- Delta 8 will remain LEGAL after May 28th, until the state begins the process of scheduling it.
We’re still on schedule for our next hearing in June to try and get the injunction back in place, but this is great news since Delta 8 products will remain legal in the interim! 🤘
Today is Election Day.

Freedom is never free.
This Memorial Day, we honor the brave Americans who gave their lives in service to our country and remember the families who carry that sacrifice every day.
As a Navy veteran, I know the bond forged by those willing to stand the watch. Today, we remember those whose watch never ended. God bless them all.
Today is African Liberation Day — a time to commemorate heroic victories against colonialism and capitalism in Africa and rededicate ourselves to continuing that fight today.
So much of the vast wealth of the capitalist class in the big imperialist powers was stolen from Africa — land, labor and resources. From the horrors of the slave trade to the colonization of the continent and the neo-colonialism of today, the ultra rich and their corporations have pillaged Africa. But the people have always and will always resist. This continues today as U.S. and French imperialism in particular step up their military presence.
On Memorial Day, we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

#BlackAmericans played a major role in shaping and honoring #MemorialDay from its earliest beginnings to today.
Key Ways Black Americans Impacted Memorial Day
1. Helped Start the First Memorial Day Observances
After the #CivilWar, formerly enslaved Black Americans in Charleston organized one of the earliest known Memorial Day ceremonies in 1865. They honored Union soldiers who died fighting for freedom by cleaning graves, decorating them with flowers, and holding a parade and memorial service.
2. Served in Every Major U.S. War
Black Americans have fought bravely in conflicts from the Revolutionary War through modern times. Despite segregation and discrimination, Black soldiers continued serving and sacrificing for the country.
3. Connected Military Service to Civil Rights
Many Black veterans returned home determined to fight for #equality and #justice. Their military service strengthened the push for civil rights in America.
4. Continue Memorial Traditions Today
Black communities, churches, veterans’ groups, and families continue honoring fallen service members through ceremonies, cemetery tributes, parades, and community events.
Why This Matters
The history of Memorial Day is deeply connected to freedom, remembrance, and sacrifice. Black Americans helped shape the holiday’s meaning by honoring those who gave their lives for liberty and equality.
