The Victorian Governess: she instructed her charges in education. Whether basic reading, writing and maths or languages or classic arts, the governess was chosen by her specialities as parents deemed necessary for their children’s education.
The first of many public events these children will face in their lifetime. The objective goal: to gracefully show appreciation and thanks for those who waited so long to see them. Someday, GC&L will teach W&C’s grandchildren to do the same. W&C teach them by fine example.

The photograph shows the surprise announcement by giant megaphone at the Chelsea Arts Club Ball of the birth of Princess Mary’s first son, George Lascelles, (later The 7th Earl of Harewood).
