💢 Statement | Iran condemns Ukrainian strike on its commercial ship, calls it a “dangerous widening the conflict”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of a military attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea early Saturday, saying an explosion killed 1 sailor and wounded another.

In a statement, the ministry called the strike a violation of the UN Charter and “a clear instance of an act of aggression” that it said could further inflame the conflict. It noted that the attack had been “explicitly acknowledged” by Ukraine’s leader President Volodymyr Zelensky, and described it as evidence of the “hostile and irresponsible” approach of Kyiv toward Iran.

Stating that Iran “has had no involvement” in the Russia-Ukraine war, the ministry said the strike showed Ukraine had committed an international violation and dangerously widened the conflict. It called on the UN Security Council, European states and the international community to take a responsible position, and said Ukraine’s “governing body” must answer for what it described as a criminal and provocative act.

Tehran said it reserved the right to defend its national interests and security under international law, and that responsibility for the consequences of the Ukrainian leadership’s “adventurism” would fall on Kyiv and “its supporters and instigators.”

The statement followed Zelensky’s announcement Saturday that Ukraine had struck Russian warships and cargo vessels in the Caspian that Kyiv said were carrying military cargo between Russia and Iran. Ukraine’s Security Service named two ships sanctioned by the US, the Port Olya 2 and the Begey, and said it also hit a Lukoil oil platform, according to RFE/RL. Neither government’s account has been independently verified.

Yemen bombed ARAMCO

Few hours ago, Yemen’s AnsarAllah struck the ARAMCO refinery in Jazan, Saudi Arabia in retaliation for their attacks against Al Hodeidah port.

Sirens were also additionally activated at Yanbu where the east-west pipeline goes through but there’s no visuals of any attack there at this moment.

The air defenses at Saudi Arabia could not protect the Yemeni missiles. Not even with the Patriot PAC-3 air defense battery deployed at Jazan by the Greeks.

🇬🇷 Greece’s National Security Council approved a procurement worth up to $4 billion Thursday for a multi-layered Israeli air defense network called Achilles Shield, one of the largest arms deals in the country’s history.

The system integrates three Israeli platforms: Rafael’s David’s Sling for long-range missile defense, Israel Aerospace Industries’ Barak MX for medium range, and Rafael’s SPYDER for short range. Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said it will be fully operational within 35 months, with Greek firms manufacturing at least a quarter of it.

The purchase sits within a broader $5.5 billion package that also includes Israeli and US drones, transport aircraft and special operations vessels, part of a roughly $32 billion Greek military modernization drive through 2036.

The deal deepens years of expanding Greece-Israel defense ties, which include an Israeli-run air training center in southern Greece and regular joint exercises. It funnels billions to Israeli state-owned arms makers whose systems, including David’s Sling, were used in Israel’s recent war on Iran and its campaign in Gaza.
