Okay so have this new idea for how I approach my book, and I’m gonna see if it helps my writers block any.
My approach? I’m going to try and view it like I’m writing a fan fiction but my headcanons are actual canons.

@mirna0722 Finally getting back on this app after awhile—
My character from my current wip’s favorite holiday… probably the time their brother took them to Chicago.
Was he supposed to take them to Chicago? No. Did they get in trouble? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes. Lol.
After looking over the relationships my adult characters have with my younger characters, I think it’s safe to say my favorite trope is mythical being/character with a god complex + favorite human parent/child style.

@justin_author Literally laughed out loud at this because of relationship my MC has with not just her parents, but a few of her parental figures in her life. Let’s just say family therapy would not help them in the slightest. 😬
I have a goofy immortal Viking boy who’s from the year 1,025. I had to research exactly what time the Vikings existed because I realized that although I was obsessed with Httyd that I had no idea what time period they were from. (2/2)

While I’m talking about writing anyway, who else has to reference google a million times to figure out what time period your immortal character could have realistically been born in based on the cultural back ground you want them to have? (1/2)
Okay so I know I’m not on Twitter a lot anymore but something that I’ve personally decided while fleshing out my characters is that ‘backstory’ is not the same thing as ‘pre-story’.

Writing Question: is your MC impulsive or do they overthink decisions?
Me: *looks at my MC*
Me: *finger guns* they swing wildly between being overly impulsive and overthinking things based on the most recent way they’ve screwed up!

Can we talk about fatphobia in writing? I want to write a plus-sized character in my next book, and do so in a respectful way. What tips or advice would you give?
