Those that can survive space are ~0.000012%. Those needed to build a civilization in space are ~99%. Space is not a heroic frontier. It is permanent severance.
Data update: latest lunar imagery confirms that Canada's shooting range now extends past the upper atmosphere. 🛰️⚽
Sending energy to @CANMNT_Official for today’s match against Morocco!
Whole country (and orbit) is behind you! 🍁
Today was my last day as Managing Editor of @junonewscom. I am tremendously proud of our journalists and deeply honored to have worked alongside @CandiceMalcolm and @TheRealKeean who are outstanding independent media leaders, innovative entrepreneurs and true friends and mentors.
Juno News has soared to become the top independent media outlet in Canada through exceptional investigative work, narrative-setting journalism and an unyielding refusal to bend to censorship. Remarkably, the team accomplished all of this without receiving a single drop of government funding
Canada is at a precipice. The establishment media is monopolized and worse, entirely dependent on government subsidies. This is a blueprint for the erosion of the free press where information is under complete government control. I truly believe independent media stands in the frontlines against the government-media cartel that seeks to eliminate dissenting opinions and truth-seekers using bribes paid for by taxpayers
The future of Canada and British Columbia is at stake. The BC NDP government, in particular, has barrelled down a path of radical intolerance toward opposing viewpoints, forcing the most extreme policies in the country onto citizens without any consideration of the devastating costs. It is precisely this battle that I hope to focus on next
That being said, I could not have asked for better partners or colleagues in my career.
I encourage you all to support Juno News by becoming a member and to continue standing behind independent media at large. I know I will
@Astro_Jeremy brought a bit of space spirit down to Earth for Canada Day at LeBreton Flats Park in Ottawa. 🇨🇦🚀
During the national noon ceremony, he took the stage to greet the crowd and share a special moment with people gathered in the capital.

SATCOM is so ubiquitous that people just assume its there, and that means SYD 88 is doing their job. This clip of Col. AJ Ashby, Commander of SYD 88, comes from the first episode in our month long series, delving inside Space Systems Command's new System Deltas. Link Below
Our prayers are with the families of the brave crew we lost in the tragic crash on Edwards Air Force Base earlier this week.
We will be forever grateful for the crews' devotion to this country and our hearts go out to those they left behind.
Crew‑13 ops team squeezed in a tour of Vast’s next‑gen space station as launch approaches in under 3 months. Busy weeks for us SpaceX last week running Dragon procedures and a trip to Japan this week for final reviews of JAXA payloads and systems.
Sunday morning power outage, makes things more peaceful on this day of rest.
But glad to have backup solar for essentials, and grateful for the @HydroOne folks who are hustling out to get power restored.
During training, you visit many of the facilities that will eventually play a role in your mission. Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A was one of them.
This visit felt different.
Standing at the base of the tower and looking up, I was reminded that this is the very place from which Neil Armstrong and his crewmates began their journey to the Moon. The facility has evolved over the decades and has been modernized for a new era of spaceflight, but it still carries the weight of its history. You can feel it.
Then there is the elevator. Inside, there are only two buttons: Earth and Space. A simple design choice, perhaps, but one that feels remarkably profound when launch day finally arrives.
What you see here is me at the top of the launch pad, with the Falcon 9 yet to make its way out. The rocket is transported to the pad horizontally and then raised to a vertical position before launch. Standing there, it was impossible not to imagine the events that would soon unfold.
At this very time last year, all of this was happening in real time. Looking back now, it feels both distant and incredibly close.

The spacesuit is an incredibly complex machine in and of itself, capable of protecting the user against the extreme, fluctuating temperatures. Interestingly, because there is no air to carry the temperature and the suit is so well insulated, you don't really feel those temperature transitions. Instead, your level of exertion determines whether you feel hot or cold in the suit. The heat your body generates has nowhere to go. If you're really working hard, you'll notice it getting warm so you "turn up the air conditioning" to cool things down again.
Space walk glove - beautiful engineering.
Protects us from the deadly vacuum of space and the wild temperature swings, while letting us feel what we're grabbing. In training I could pick up a dime off the pool floor.
They twist and lock into place at the end of the spacesuit sleeves.
Putting on a spacesuit while wearing a gas mask.
If we have a spaceship fire, we rapidly don oxygen masks for the smoke. The tricky part is then getting into the spacesuit without breathing noxious fumes - need to hold your breath for a while.
These photos are from a training session in the Star City simulator. Once we learn how, we do it again with the cockpit filled with smoke.
A good skill to have confidence in.
The constitution guarantees the freedom of the press.
But THIS Defense Department has attacked the free press over and over again.
Journalists are necessary to hold those in power accountable and make sure our government works for the people it serves. This is especially true of our military, who oversees nearly one trillion taxpayer dollars and regularly makes life-and-death decisions.
I spoke up today to bring accountability back to the Pentagon, and ban them from overly curtailing press access.
The Space Force and Space Command are not the same organization.
This trips up reporters, lawmakers, and most Americans. Here's the actual difference... ↓
#DYK the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) deploys first responders on operations? Their readiness helps protect our people and enables mission success - every day.
Most people have never heard of the 328th Weapons Squadron. But if the U.S. ever has to fight in space, the people who lead that fight trained here.
It turns 30 this year. Its commander joined the Spacepower Podcast to explain why it matters... Link below
One year ago, on June 4, 2025, former Canadian Space Agency astronaut Marc Garneau passed away at the age of 76. We will always remember his significant contribution to the history of Canadian space exploration. ✨
My first spaceflight was 24 years ago today and I took on the newly created role of Science Officer. This was an important shift in how the Space Station was used and viewed. Before this mission, the Station was still heavily focused on assembly, systems activation, and proving that humans could live and work in orbit. The Science Officer role signaled the shift from an engineering project to a laboratory that could elevate research to a central mission objective. As someone with previous experience in NASA's life and sciences and as a lover of biochemistry, it felt like the perfect role for me!
