An #England Observation

Positive Mental Attitude

Whilst the performance again was not at its peak, England found a way to get past a difficult performance. It didn’t look pretty but England are becoming effective at negotiating these tricky paths and teams. Again playing at perhaps 80% in difficult hot conditions (same for both sides) they grind out wins. Tuchal tactically gets it right and reads a game well. Bellingham at 22 is playing like a man possessed dragging England by the hair. I think praise to Anderson who quietly got on with it and played for me his most mature game. Spence who I think tried too hard at the beginning but has grown into being an England player was very effective. I think first half Norway were the better team and should have been 2-0 up just after half time. But then England started to get into the flow and edge forward.

Mentality they are showing how strong they are. Add the quality we know is there and anything’s possible. It’s not how you start it’s his you finish.

Argentina are good but not a great team. It won’t be easy but they are beatable. Let’s the fun and stress begin. #ENGNOW

The Wednesday Voice exists to help ensure Sheffield Wednesday is a well-run club, with strong, meaningful links to its supporters and community. It is about bringing together the club, its supporters, and the wider community so we can move forward as one.

𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞.
The Sheffield Wednesday Trust has over 2000 members; this still leaves 90% of Sheffield Wednesday Supporters without representation and a voice. ‘The Wednesday Voice’ aims to engage those supporters that feel disenfranchised and enable them to influence the future direction of the supporter’s experience.

𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭.
The purpose of ‘The Wednesday Voice’ is to listen to supporters, give them platform and help Sheffield Wednesday FC engage with a broader section of the fan base for the benefit of the Club, its supporters,’ and the wider Sheffield Wednesday Community.
‘The Wednesday Voice’ wants to collaborate closely with the club whilst maintaining its independence whilst acting as a check and challenge to ensure supporters’ views are heard and acted upon as the club progresses.

Whilst the Sheffield Wednesday Trust has significant work, particularly over the last 18 months in mobilising supporter action and highlighting key issues facing the club. However, we believe there is a clear need for an additional, independent supporter’s organisation that’s sits outside the business of the club and provides a broad platform of supporters’ opinion.
‘The Wednesday Voice’ aims to be a broad church of views, collaborating with the club to develop and world class fan base including matchday experience and fan engagement.

Inclusiveness is at the heart of ‘The Wednesday Voice.’ The organisation is open to all supporters, regardless of background, and is committed to ensuring every supporter has a voice that can be heard, represented, and communicated effectively to the club.

‘The Wednesday Voice’ will be a democratically run organisation, with members voting on major decisions. Transparency, openness and ongoing dialogue with supporters and other supporter groups will be central to how ‘The Wednesday Voice’ operates.

‘The Wednesday Voice’ wants to work in collaboration with all Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Groups. Every group has a valid role in representing its members and contributing ideas. By listening to each other and working together, we can better support the club. No group should seek to dominate others. Everyone’s voice is equal.

𝐐: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 ‘𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞’ 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬?
Initially, the organisation will be funded through donations to allow it to be properly established and registered. In the longer term, it is envisaged that ‘The Wednesday Voice’ will become a membership organisation, with an annual subscription of £10 to support running costs and events.

Future fund-raising activities will aim to enhance the matchday experience for Sheffield Wednesday supporters and support the wider Sheffield Wednesday Community.
