Always think World Cups are so beautiful for associative memory. They come every four years, allow you to reflect on life, how far you have come, where you were when it last came and just an opportunity to somehow be grateful for everything.
I don’t think people realise just how special of a footballer Rio Ngumoha actually is.
He should’ve been called up to the World Cup squad for England for this exact quality. Changing the game against tired legs; look at the gravity for a 17 year old.
@PhilBlundell Might take is that unless you're Robben, Messi, Salah or Mane you shouldn't be an inverted winger. Painful watching lads do fuck all because they can only cut in one their weak foot because they're weak foot is purely for standing on
[🟢] Late in 2013, Liverpool were looking for an experienced right-back to augment a squad that was developing nicely under Brendan Rodgers. Spanish contacts alerted them to the potential availability of Andoni Iraola. He was 31, a Spain international and one of the best defenders in La Liga.
Michael Edwards, then Liverpool’s head of technical performance, had one of his key scouts, Julian Ward, make contact with Iraola’s camp, and Ward travelled to watch Iraola lead Athletic Bilbao to victory away to Málaga. Ward had seen enough to open a dialogue with the player and Iraola was interested. He had six months left on his contract and let Ward know he would either renew or come to Anfield in the January transfer window.
After agonising, Iraola elected to extend his deal with Athletic.

🚨💣 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄: Andoni Iraola won't have a big budget for signings this summer with Liverpool; he's been told to focus on analyzing 2-3 players he likes for replacements for the players that will leave the club this summer.
The Liverpool board are still taking into account the huge amount of money they spent last summer with Arne Slot and think they have top-quality players and have asked Iraola to work around the players the team currently has.
This whole Rio news is such a non-story I don't know why everyone is talking about it. We'll be signings two wingers most likely and it won't block his path as he's 17 FFS
The whole "signing x player will block youth player Y's development" is ridiculous, we're playing 55 games or so next year, get as many quality bastards in as you can
🚨✅ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: According to @Soccernews_nl, Roberto de Zerbi is hoping to convince Cody Gakpo to make the move from @LFC this summer. Tottenham are currently working behind the scenes on a possible deal, drawing up a plan to convince the forward and Liverpool in the summer window.
Good luck to him, been a great lad for us.
Very weird choice by both parties though, he'll be good playing once a week, but he's not the same player he used to be
