By the way… climbing a mountain not essential, I know that getting out of bed some days is a mountain climb in itself. Whatever stage of recovery you’re at, whatever your challenges are, keep going. Little by little you will find ways to do the things that bring you joy and make you feel like you again.

@themelissamoody Would you be interested in a small bowel cancer charity for young adults which was founded by three women (mum and two daughters), after the death of their son/brother aged just 33.
We’re going on an adventure and would love for you to come with us!

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have people your own age to talk to who have been through the same surgeries and treatments. The age thing matters because cancer has specific implications depending on what stage of your life you’re at.
I have a beautiful family of friends who have gone through exenteration. Some of these people I’ve never met in person but we have the most honest, funny, sometimes emotional, always meaningful chats and the peace that comes from speaking with somebody that just totally ‘gets it’ is invaluable.
Regardless of how wonderful our medical teams are (and I honestly couldn’t ask for better) we are left to navigate the aftermath and try and figure a way to reconcile what we thought our life would be with what we are actually left with. Feeling like you’re not drifting alone means absolutely everything.
Also, please burn my phone when I die because some of the photos we send each other aren’t normal. 😳😂

I am speechless
One doctor ends their life every three weeks
I thought about it, and came close - twice - as a consultant breast surgeon
Without mental health services provided by Occ Health I'd have had a 9 month wait to treat suicidal depression as a working doctor
They only went and smashed it!!
✅ 104 miles
✅3 days
✅ 4,000 m of ascent
❌ a few tasty war wounds…
🫶🏼 and over £2,200 raised for @The_B_Movement ‼️
Thank you to everyone for the support along the way and for @BBCRB for taking the time to speak to the guys along the way! 💟
