D-Line Hand Combat Drill
- Hand combat is a fundamental skill because beating an opponent's hands allows a defender to beat the man
- Using a forearm swipe is often more effective than a traditional club because it provides a larger surface area to clear the opponent's hands
- Defensive linemen should be encouraged to use a swipe arm over technique rather than a standard club arm over
- This specific drill helps players develop upper body rotation while simultaneously working their hand techniques
- While the drill allows players to be active and have fun, it remains focused on the essential mechanics of hand placement
- Every rep should conclude by working the finish, which includes grabbing and tugging with the opposite hand as part of the arm over movement

LB Play Action Bag Drill
The play action drill for linebackers focuses on the transition from playing the run to dropping into pass coverage and involves the following teaching points:
- Run-to-Pass Transition: Players must come up to play the run, then "shiver" and stick their foot in the ground to drop back into coverage.
- Sticking and Driving: The drill works on hip mobility and the ability to stick a foot in the ground to drive forward effectively.
- Striking a Blow: When coming up to strike a blow, linebackers must keep their knees bent.
Near Foot, Near Shoulder: Coaches emphasize using the near foot and near shoulder when striking.
- Recoil and Transition: After striking a blow, players should recoil off the bag and move quickly to the next target.
- Eyes Up: The use of obstacles like bags and targets (such as cut balls) is intended to force players to keep their eyes up rather than looking down at their feet.

D-Line Triple Bag Movement Drill
D-Line Pass Rush Indy
- The key movements are "bend, bend, bend, and burst".
- The most important thing is to burst off the bend when moving around a pop-up.
- Focus on keeping the movement tight and sinking the butt.
- The drill involves pointing the inside toe and flipping the hips around.
- The purpose is to create muscle memory for the players.

D-Line Shot Blocker Drill
D-Line Pass Rush Indy
- The drill is called "Shot Blocker" and is primarily used with defensive tackles.
- The objective is to create separation quickly in a quick-passing game as soon as a player feels the quarterback's hand come off the ball.
- When performing the drill, the player should jump straight up.
- The goal is to tip the ball high into the air, not to swat it down.
- Tipping the ball high allows someone else to make a play on it.
- It is very important to create separation as soon as the quarterback's hand comes off the ball.
