@wandarah@LeighToad We'll see when it's official but I can tell you categorically there is no possibility that it could've been 114 out of 115. And thinking he could be right shows you're a clueless twat as well.
I recently read that Def Col market is now just filled with drunk young people.
I am glad it is what it is. A market with Firenze where I can get affogato at 3 PM, attend a meeting, meet friends for drinks at 7 PM, be sure that the bar people will take care of everyone 1/2
even if I leave. Where I can get kebabs at 9 PM at colonels with friends go back to 4S where the staff remembers me, drink some more and leave. Where I can get my meds if I feel sick and wrap the night listening to someone performing live.
You can never make me hate Def Col.

10/10 the media team is scrambling to put out a clarification and some AS/Secretary has stalled it all for MEA directive. Or the person who has the password for socials hasn’t turned up at office yet. You will be surprised how many govt social passwords rest with 1-2 people.

A rare officer who put public interest before pharma profits and had a spine
The funniest part of Onam has been visiting our family friends for Onam and discovering that kids I have seen grow up are deflecting all marriage questions they face as 22-24 year olds by simply pointing to me and saying “Once he gets married come after us”
Why is such brutal force being used against protesting students in Jharkhand?
When political parties protest, we don’t see the police resorting to lathicharge or tear gas.
So why is this force repeatedly used only against students?
Andrew Wiles worked on Fermat's Last Theorem alone in his attic for 7 years and told nobody except his wife.
The problem was 358 years old. Fermat scribbled in a margin in 1637 that he had a proof and no room to write it, and every mathematician since had failed.
Wiles saw the statement in a library book at 10 years old. He never let it go.
He was a Princeton professor when he started in 1986. He stopped publishing new work and released old results in pieces to hide the silence.
He announced it in Cambridge in June 1993, over 3 lectures, revealing the target only at the end. Newspapers ran it worldwide.
Then a referee found a gap. One step in the proof did not hold, and the error was fundamental.
He spent 14 months trying to close it in public view, with the whole field watching. He was ready to quit.
The fix arrived in September 1994. He has said he stared at it in disbelief for 20 minutes.
The BBC filmed him describing that moment. He gets a few words out, then turns away from the camera in tears.
He kept the greatest result of the century secret so nobody could take it.
Two thoughts: The current Indian government is more democratic and image-conscious / aware than its detractors claim. And it has been less successful in resolving many of India’s structural issues as compared to what its supporters claim. (1/2)
