@oliverbrocato "i cant even fathom." I'm ending everything I say with this line.
"It's gonna be great. i cant even fathom."
"I'm having a great day, I can't even fathom."
We need to collectively agree:
No gifts for kids bday parties (like your kids friends bday party).
Call me a Scrooge! But we all just have to buy the same junk each weekend and no one actually wants it.
"The scenes of our life are like pictures in rough mosaic, which have no effect at close quarters, but must be looked at from a distance in order to discern their beauty.
So that to obtain something we have desired is to find out that it is worthless; we are always living in expectation of better things, while, at the same time, we often repent and long for things that belong to the past.
We accept the present as something that is only temporary, and regard it only as a means to accomplish our aim. So that most people will find if they look back when their life is at an end, that they have lived their lifelong ad interim, and they will be surprised to find that something they allowed to pass by unnoticed and unenjoyed was just their life - that is to say, it was the very thing in the expectation of which they lived.
And so it may be said of man in general that, befooled by hope, he dances into the arms of death."
Sent from a buddy. From this: https://t.co/zzQWQpXy6P
today, one of my favorite YT announced he is retiring
basically, he doesn't want to keep making videos, he wants to spend time with his kids, and have more fun playing Warhammer and Legos and write books
i find it awesome
he basically has the courage to say, "I have enough, and I will do what I love even if i make x10 less money"
with AI taking over, I expect to see this x1000
side note: this makes me realize there will be HUGE opportunities in building toys for adults - maybe time to move from BtoB SaaS
Have a question for those with newsletters:
has being on substack or any other newsletter platform giving you meaningful growth through their network?
It appears the big benefit of Substack is subscriber growth via their network? Has that been your experience?
A few notes:
1. American's are very, very wealthy. Yeah, housing is still too expensive and other things need to be improved, but it's just crazy how much wealth we have as a whole and how great the average American has it. Big home with AC, big car, some cash. So many millionaires.
2. There are 80k families with $100m+. $100m is a stupid amount of money. Incredible how many families have that. Huge. Would it be interesting to see how many actually have that as investable assets. If I had to make a guess, it'd be 10% of that.
3. I HATE when people say things like "the average American can't afford a $500 expense." Not true at all.
Note: I have no idea if this data is accurate. Seems pretty amazing.
@DG68020 This same graphic has america at 124k.
Our population is five times larger than the second-largest on that list (UK). The population of that entire list is about the size of America.
America is also likely the most diverse of all those countries.
