It's easier, more efficient and more effective just to set the target and right-size the work and approach to fit.

I think there’s something very positive about just doing the job and calling it what the customer wants

If your customer (stakeholders etc) want an estimate, and what you give them does the job (better) than estimation, call it estimation 👏
