Taking the time to understand the source of suffering - looking at the whole person and not just assuming what quality of life should look like or what someone’s priorities should be.

This is not about bringing sides together. This is about protecting the safety of Mi’kmaw rights holders & making room for us to exercise & assert our rights. They are the ones breaking the law. Their interests have no weight here. Stop making it about them and protect us.

The problem with conspiracy theories... and there are many... is that you can never prove them wrong. No matter how many facts you use, there will always be shadowy figures.
It's time we adopt an intersectionality lens in all our health practices. Doing so will allow us to explore the intersecting dimensions in the development of health inequities, providing us knowledge with how health can be promoted.
We've got it wrong -- anti-vaxx DO trust experts, they're just bad at knowing who has the correct expertise. Throwing facts at people firmly rooted in their beliefs won't create change. Nobody is prepared to change narratives until you provide them with a new one. #mondaythoughts
Body mass index is a population index not fit to use at the individual level! We constantly assess ourselves and others using BMI while unintendedly allocating self-worth. Arnold Schwarzenegger would be obese based on his height and weight. BMI doesn't mean sh*t. #healthliteracy
An increase in #antivaxx and other pseudoscience sentiments in the public, yet our public health professionals aren't using the words and terms that connect with people at an emotional level -- the way that experts who promote vaccination resistance do. #FactsArentEnough
Second day facilitating the UBC site for @PHA_BC 's 10th Summer School. It is so inspiring to hear and see all the hard work of our public health practitioners coming together from BC, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, & 19 remote sites to talk about #complexadaptivesystems
