It was such a privilege to document elephant collaring in Conkouati-Douli National Park.

Collaring elephants is challenging - but worth it! An ECF-funded operation in Congo's Conkouati-Douli NP fitted 2 elephants with collars, with 3 more to follow. The data will help protect this recovering park, home to elephants, gorillas & leatherback turtles.

The Jameson’s mamba is a species across the whole of Central Africa. Recorded here by @ThomasNicolon is the subspecies with a black tail in the East of its range.

Why did a bunch of crocodiles catch a ride in this boat? In July 2024, ecoguards from the Lac Télé Community Reserve in the Republic of Congo rescued a group of Congolese dwarf crocodiles from an illegal large-scale poacher and released them into the wild.
