@TimbersFPL Think the issue is that the rent on that house is now higher because of the recent regulatory changes and the risks to being a landlord. That’s what makes this work I think
@jhorsewhisperer They are giving the voters what they want - a step on the housing ladder , without doing it the right way with a strong 20% deposit. I get the issues with this, but asking people to over leverage is a really bad idea
@PolemicTMM This is only going to keep house prices up - terribly decision, I would rather the govt gives every child born £10,000 say for 3 years and invests it on their behalf in the market . It will be crazy expensive, but when the govt cuts all benefit and all social security .
@thomwiseman@ukhpinfo Really - is you include stamp duty, closing costs etc would it be cheaper.
And just as an fyi, rents are up because of regulation making it super not worthwhile to be a landlord. So to fix the problem they’ve created, they introduce more poor legislation. Nothing bad here.
@SpiritOfAttlee What did the landlords do that were so bad ? What did the banker do after the gfc ?
The sick the disabled is bullshit - it’s 20% of the population, this is unheard off. This benefit was meant to support folks at the extreme , not 20% of the working population
@implausibleblog When you say Britain cannot punish its way to prosperity, that’s a catchphrase not backed by economics . The govt by spending as much is crowding out private enterprise and risk taking and hence jobs. So actually the punishment is what we need for growth & jobs.
@GerryHassan Ok, the uk deficit is 6% and we need to fix it before the bond markets disciplines us and causes pain. What do you suggest to fix this , nothing that taxes are the highest they have ever been ..with cuts, who suffers its coming on way or another
@UtdStruggs Tax free - he gets paid losses more than half of it z goes to Riyadh, earns 2x more and pays no tax ..that’s a 4x increase in take home income
@Elizabe13014545@Wesawthebest No you are the problem, you cannot do basic maths or understand why the govt is in this situation. Have you even read the uk budget before posting this , educate yourself first please it will help everyone .
@roberthenryjohn What nonsensical framing …it’s ok to make the current generation poorer because the past was loyal? The real question is how much did they put in and how much are they taking out. We need to invest in the future first, so that pensions can be protected and whatever level
@MarkSeddon1962 Right - then why is the Uk running a 6% deficit now ? We should have a very Lowe deficit now right , where else are we blowing money ? Can we cut something to get to some semblance of responsibility ?
@SuellaBraverman I lived in the U.S. and one of the best parts of the country was that you are American first and then what ethnicity / race second. It also creates a positive environment around shared identity. Why are we even discussing this - so negative .
@JulieBorowski Have you ever been on the other side of hiring . You’re under so much pressure to hire that race , cheapnesss does not matter . They’re focussed on speed within the payband to relieve pressure on the team
@TheSecretAcct I don’t man - you start off with the view that this tax is fair and people should just accept it , no I don’t accept how profligate the UK govt is. Another perspective is to cut spending and cut red tape. The aim of the govt is not wealth redistribution, it’s to set incentives
@MikScarlet Don’t you realise the market rate for their labour is less than minimum wage . However much that sickens you, the supply vs demand of labour is that these folks should be paid less. Tesco is already subsidising the govt a ton. You have this backwards - think clearer
