@davidfrum That’s what I’ve been saying. Biden’s rating on the economy has been very low since he got into office & barely changed & by the spring a majority will have a very favorable rating of the economy & credit Trump as if anything a president does in months has any impact on anything

As I sit down to honor the incredible life of the great Quincy Jones, I find myself reaching for words as expansive as the impact he had on this world. Quincy Jones wasn’t just a music legend—he was a culture-shaper, a bearer of history, and a master teacher of life. For all of us who had the privilege to witness his genius, his legacy is larger than any of us could ever fully articulate.

Whenever I had the honor to be in his presence and speak with him one-on-one, I felt an unmistakable urge to simply listen. I wanted to soak up every word, every story, every glimpse into the world he’d seen and helped mold. The timbre of his voice was like nothing else—powerful, soothing, and melodic all at once. He carried a rhythm in his words that mirrored the rhythm he lived by—a rhythm that shaped music, art, and activism in ways that transformed generations.

In Mr. Jones, I saw & felt something deeply familiar, something that reminded me of my own father, whom I lost too young. My dad, like Mr. Jones, embodied that timeless, effortless cool, that grace of someone who’s walked through both storms and sunshine and emerged with wisdom to share. Quincy, too, carried that fatherly energy—the “coolest human” kind of energy. He was always the keeper of stories, the carrier of hard-earned wisdom, someone who made you feel like you were standing with a bridge to the past, yet with eyes always looking forward.

Quincy has left an indelible mark not just on music but on the world and on all of us who’ve had the privilege to walk, even for a moment, in his light. He preserved and changed the world with his gifts, his voice, his vision. He was a man who saw it all and used what he saw to make a better world for all of us, whether we realize it or not.

Rest in power, grace, and music, dear Quincy. Thank you for a life so beautifully lived, for showing us all what is possible when you live not only with talent but with courage, curiosity, and unshakable love. Mr. Jones, you are, were and always will be the man.

Through his incredible talents as an artist, composer, and producer, he exemplified true artistry and innovation throughout his unrivaled career. There will never be another Quincy D. Jones!

Quincy’s success as a producer is truly unmatched. His extensive production credits speak volumes about his impact on music history, having collaborated with the biggest music icons in the world such as Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Paul Simon, Amy Winehouse, and Barbra Streisand, to name just a few. And we all know about Quincy’s legendary work with Michael Jackson, where he produced three groundbreaking albums: Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Thriller remains the biggest-selling album of all time! As a composer, Quincy’s score for the 1985 film The Color Purple earned him an Oscar nomination. He also recorded a series of albums featuring stars like James Ingram, Ray Charles, and Chaka Khan. Quincy was one of the wealthiest African Americans in the world, thanks to his ownership of the rights to the music he produced, which showcased his strong business acumen alongside his artistic genius.

Quincy Jones' legacy goes far beyond his musical achievements; he had a God-given gift for connecting people through music, which he used to make the world a better place. A perfect example of this is the infamous 4x Grammy Award-winning song “We Are the World,” the star-studded song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie which he co-produced and conducted. His influence and contributions to music will resonate for generations to come, and his legacy will live on through the lives of his seven successful and talented children, whom he often spoke of with great pride. Cookie and I are keeping the entire Jones family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
