@Litterwatch1@McDonaldsUK@SercoESUK@sandwellcouncil I'm not sure simply adding the car registration will be effective. Even if the litter is found and the vehicle identified, a successful fine or prosecution wouldn't follow because you can't say who was driving or who threw the litter
I was listening to a podcast about industries that could clean up but don't because legislation allows them to get away with it and so the problem is passed to others. We need the UK Government to actually mean what it says and force these industries towards green solutions
After days of work and 1,404 plastic bottle tops I’ve finally finished my DRS - Deposit Return Suit! I was gutted to hear that the Deposit Return Scheme in England has been delayed until 2024. This isn’t good enough...
@waddells74 @crikey2050 The best idea we heard, from one of our followers, was to barcode fast food packaging. That way it can be traced to its purchaser.
It doesn't solve the whole problem but you can be sure it would have a big impact
Absolutely shocking state of verges covered in #litter along the #A14 today. It was particularly bad around #Kettering and #Welford but continued up to and on the M6. Plastic seemed to grow on trees and the litter went on for tens of miles. How can this be fixed @HighwaysEngland?
We got fed up with waiting for Euro Car Parks and @Poundland in #Tonbridge to tidy the gross mess in their car park so decided to tackle it ourselves. Not perfectly sparkling but an improvement at least! It's not our litter but it is our planet! #Do1Thing#EuroCarParks
@LaraQuinn15 What about the benefits of supporting local businesses? And buying produce from local farmers who may often be smaller concerns, working land passed down through generations and choosing sustainability over profit. Buying local isnt just about lorry diesel!
I haven’t shared a video for a while so here’s one I made during this morning’s walk. I often find grot spots in the local woods and always try to clear them when I can. 👍🏻💚🌍 Love where you live. Respect where you don’t. #myplasticpromise#IpswichWombles#GBSpringClean
@LaraQuinn15 Curious to know what that would do to those ecosystems?
Maybe seaweed would block out light and suffocate the habitats below?
One of the important things in the current environmental crisis will be to avoid making it worse by misguided policies and actions
@alrapids1 @dubhead77 @filthy_lucre78 @Ogresofgogo1 Hey there! We are in the final stages of preparing our App for the App Store and Play Store! Our team have been working tirelessly to produce a product that could reduce the impact of litter in the UK and even globally. Stay tuned!
@CommLitterpick Have to agree, we live in a throwaway society. As consumers we pressured manufacturers for ever cheaper, more convenient goods - and they responded.
Now we need to request sustainability for our planet
And what if we could give citizens credits for using the system: for correctly sorting and disposing of their rubbish? That would incentivise correct behaviour
