LVMPD has received several reports of a scam happening in Clark County.

Victims are receiving phone calls from scammers pretending to be bank employees. Here's how it works:

▶️ The victim is advised there is a suspicious or fraudulent charge on their bank account.
▶️ The victim is informed a person from the bank will meet at the victim’s home to take their debit card and shred it.
▶️ A fake bank employee shows up, cuts up the card, and leaves with the remains of the card.
▶️ The victim later receives real notifications from the bank informing them several withdrawals have been made from their bank account shortly after. Many times, several thousands of dollars.

⚠️You should be aware the bank will never send anyone to your house to pick up your debit cards and shred them.

If this happens and you hand over your cards, immediately do the following:

✅ Contact your bank to lock their account and cancel all associated debit cards.
✅ Contact LVMPD to file a report.
✅ Set up bank alerts for all bank accounts to identify any transaction which may be fraudulent.
