If anyone is interested, or wants to keep tabs with what I'm doing on this project (I also want a record for my mental sake), this thread will have all the updates and information
Any questions, please let me know and I'd love to answer!
Currently working on a machine learning MLB probability model, essentially to help project MLB opportunity and/or success w/ other factors
Fine tuning it and good bit of a ways to go, but initially it has #Tigers C Manuel Bolivar as a 92% chance & 67% chance at 1x All-Star
@ScottUpham@IYKbaseball If McKinstry is getting 300+ PA sure it’s and issue, he’ll likely see 150+ if that. He’s a gold glove caliber defender, great on the bases. The bat sure it’s an issue, but no one else available to take the UTL spot
@ScottUpham@IYKbaseball Anderson and ZMac aren’t comparable. A OF with a plus GG caliber glove and great base running, Anderson is a below average 2B who struggles on the bases and his bat might not translate either
Been a big push of mine so far, fits a lot of what the #Tigers like
Would be able to be a capable SS w/ UTL ability. Scott Harris connection. Limited power output, RHH, puts the ball in play, low strikeout risk, elite glove.
Projected: 2/28, option of 1/14. Might not hit FA
I'm not going to knock anyone, etc. If you want to discredit analytics go ahead, but at least have a fundamental understanding of what they are
This is beyond just flat stats like WAR, SIERA, FIP, etc. There's such a broad band of analytics that drives EVERY sport
@sstaedtler8787@m_f_thatherton@KatsOnTop Yeah I’m sure App state was really concerned about liberty fans vacations while students were homeless, people in the town died, and the school needed major renovations. It’s unfortunate for LU fans but the players/fans ruined it for themselves off initial reaction
Obviously eye test supersedes all, but this hatred towards analytics is quite funny when the baseline understanding of such isn't there in general.
Regression, Forecasting, MSE, Ljung Box, Univariate, Matching, etc are all key fundamental aspects
Long gave up a 86.7 205ft double, GO, K, 53 mph INF 1B, GO, GO, GO, 103.5 1B, K, 107.6 3B
Evans came in bottom 10, gave up a steal of 3B, 101 Ground Out, 100.2 single, K, K
2 of Rainer's 3 batted balls were hard contact, one would have fell in the MLB. Peck had an ABS K, three pitch K, and then saw 4 pitches in his 3 other ABs along with a Sac Fly
Our @tigersMLreport YouTube channel just hit 1 million views and over 90,000 hours watched with 3,436 subscribers. Pretty damn proud of that.
There’s an audience for Tigers prospect coverage, and we’re grateful you’ve made us part of your baseball routine.
