NUS has moved all of its undergrad recruitment online. As part of this, I spent 3 hours filming on Wednesday for this 2 minute video - but the end result is really pleasing. Definitely the most professional looking thing I've done for work! https://t.co/YOxBoPe0hr

Out now on BiorXiv, https://t.co/aUP5qgkj37 is about the eduWOSM, our advanced optical microscope for educational and resource-limited settings. $9K build cost, compact, open source, super-stable, super-bright, super-controllable, user friendly, easy-to-love, able to do this:
We are recruiting! Fully funded post-doctoral positions are available. Interested in #morphogenesis#imaging#zebrafish? Join us @TheCrick to help us understand how embryos build a functional beating heart during development. Please RT 🙏

We are looking for an Assistant/Associate Professor who is pursuing research into how the disruption of electrical function and/or mechanobiology contributes to human pathologies, and in particular cardiac disorders. More info here:

My final (☹️) paper with Ivo Telley now out - https://t.co/CJtwQ7LAcu
I felt the elife system worked well - first time publishing there since the changed model. Good to have different approaches- nothing is perfect.
@HFSP We utilise Ivo's great explant system to make clean and quantitative measurements. This is backed up by theoretical modelling of the aster interactions with boundaries and each other.
The eduWOSM is our open source microscope for education and resource-limited settings. We now have a YouTube channel to explain what it is, what it can do, how it works, and how to work it https://t.co/5hyxr9D7HK
Really happy to see this out:

We use FCS to reveal that Bicoid dynamics vary spatially across the Drosophila embryo. We demonstrate this can explain previous observations about gradient extent and time scale of formation.
@scholpp_lab I think Bicoid is pretty clear - lots of direct measurements using different approaches. Of course, it's not unhindered diffusion, but alternative models do not fit with the range of experiments. (Yes, I know Bicoid is a weird morphogen)
Ok. This is an absolute #breakthrough and #tourdeforce by @steinaerts lab. Designing functional enhancers has been a dream of the scientific community for decades. Now AI fed with the right data cracked the cis regulatory code. Respect 🤠➡️🎩
The deadline for applications to the MRC DTP in IBR Programme at Warwick for 2024 entry has been extended to 4th December 2023!

@PavelTomancak@Rainmaker1973 Just moved to the Blue place - say username. Just about given up on here - the thought of my actions supporting Elon is not very edifying.
One of the more surprising things I’ve learned in my years as a marriage and family therapist is that pets are more than just “man’s best friend”—most families see them as *actual* members of the family system.
The thing that finally made me see it clearly was grief.

Are you looking to make your microscopy images pop? I've been working on an add-on to make loading tifs in @Blender more accessible!
With tif2blender, 3D animations of z-stacks are hopefully easier to make in open-source format.🌈
Try it at: https://t.co/yVO6paHyZe
Excited to share the lab’s very first pre-print (!!) where we describe a new tunable hybrid hydrogel system and discover ECM-specific cues that regulate cardiac aging. Check it out!👇
