Very pleased to share our latest, out today in @CellCellPress.

We looked at the role of prefrontal neurons in a rodent model of cross-sensory attention shifting, and get this...
This is such an important editorial!!! We are the gatekeepers: Let a paper be ‘a moment in time'. Allow your review to be constructive and nurturing. If it is novel, and rigorous, publish it. https://t.co/8q4VJpL7O3
📢 Recruiting as a new PI at the University of Pittsburgh! 🧠🔬
🔍 Do you ever wonder how the brain regulates emotions? What circuits are involved and how do they integrate information from within and without? Join me in studying this and more.🌟
🐙 ALERT! So when you put an octopus in cold water it recodes 13,000 codons (1/3 of all recoding sites!) via massive RNA editing in the brain!! And this apparently alters the function of synaptic proteins! 🤯🤯🤯 That’s insane (but not for the octopus)

Four faculty-level neuroscience positions available in @uniofexeHLS. Come and join our expanding team of neuroscientists in a beautiful area of the UK. Please RT and get in touch for more information. https://t.co/T1OcfdTnzl @ExeterNeuro@ExeterBRC
I believe in MERIT. The issue is that historical systems in the US excluded the poor, women, and racially minoritized groups from competing. Multiple practices have allowed the impacts of this exclusion to persist. 1/5.

Do you know advanced Ph.D. students or postdocs who are Computational Neuroscience or Deep Learning experts?
Please tell them to apply as Teaching Assistants (TAs)! We are looking for senior TAs for project and lead TAs roles!
Duties are described here: https://t.co/MkzwlHoee6
Fake news released by @DukeU . It is simply not true that anything just got 60million times better. High magnetic field has been used on rodents for a long time with massively higher resolution than 1.5T scans on humans. Seriously. This is bad. https://t.co/UABHJ2tGdc
(1/4) Excited to share our perspective article with @EngelTatiana and @MGENK out today in Nature Reviews Neuroscience! We highlight work which unifies the neural manifold and circuit perspectives on cognition and argue that they are inseparable. https://t.co/UFgzy60aKa
The idea is simple, comparing spiking versus non spiking is hopelessly confounded. However, comparing almost spiking with barely spiking isnt. This is an application of the idea called "regression discontinuity design" in the causality community to a set of neuroscience problems.
New paper (https://t.co/z5F1QDXJDL) from the lab out today! @yadlee2 & team report a circuit-based strategy to enhance hippocampal neurogenesis in Alzheimer's mice. Activation of circuit-modified new neurons restores cognition, hippocampal plasticity, and microglia dynamics.
An @NIMHgov-supported study finds differences in mental health care among Medicaid enrollees based on where they live. The authors suggest that frequent use of emergency services for mental health care may indicate a lack of access to outpatient services. https://t.co/cFxuO5UKrI
Ironically, but predictably, GWAS has entered the same rabbit hole, spawning myriad bogus hypotheses (cf a lot of polygenic score claims/uses). It’s a deep and pervasive structural and social flaw in modern science.
This paper is the outcome of a long and arduous journey toward an optogenetic dissection of local circuit connectivity in the prefrontal cortex. We combined opsin engineering, 2-photon imaging, new analysis tools and hundreds of hours of complex experiments...
