We are pleased to announce the appointment of Phrase Lubega as Managing Director of MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited, subject to regulatory approval.

Phrase brings over 30 years of experience across telecommunications, IT and financial services, with a strong track record in scaling mobile financial services and driving digital innovation across Africa.

As MTN Group Fintech CEO Serigne Dioum said: “Phrase brings deep market expertise and a proven track record of scaling mobile financial services. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand access to inclusive, secure and innovative digital financial solutions.”

MoMo Uganda Board Chairperson @sylmulinge added: “Phrase’s deep understanding of the business, strong governance experience and proven leadership across the MTN footprint position him well to drive sustainable value for all stakeholders.”

We also extend our appreciation to Sarah Bateta Okwi for her leadership and stewardship during the interim period.

We wish Phrase every success as he leads MTN Mobile Money Uganda into its next phase of growth.

I understand just how big this responsibility is. Behind this appointment stand the hopes of millions of Ugandans, the safety of our communities, and the future of a country that continues to grow stronger under His Excellency's leadership.

I step into this role with humility, with a deep sense of duty, and with a strong desire to serve well. I promise to work hard, to act with honesty, and to give my very best every single day. My focus will be simple and clear: to help keep our people safe, to protect peace in our country, and to serve Uganda with all the energy and care I have.

The @FBI has identified cyber actors associated with Russian Intelligence Services targeting users of commercial messaging applications, including Signal.

The campaign targets individuals of high intelligence value, including current and former U.S. government officials, military personnel, political figures, and journalists.

Globally, this effort has resulted in unauthorized access to thousands of individual accounts. After gaining access, the actors can view messages and contact lists, send messages as the victim, and conduct additional phishing from a trusted identity.

It's important for you to be aware and take action - this vulnerability is not with the application - but you as the end user.
