@astralopithekos@TheMomoftheHour I can confirm this was how it was in Alberta. You had to argue with the gatekeepers who would then decide whether they would book you an appointment. Most of the time they refused and suggested mRNA. And then like you said, CDN gov't stopped ordering saying no one wanted it.
@anarchotadigism False. The Dec expiry have expired. But Feb expiry still available. As you said, pharmacist didnt want to look into it further, so did no research and guessed, and gave wrong info.
@anti_gyro_@DonEford Pfizer is not allowed to use it in their covid vax according to the agreement. Pfizer most likely using it in their pneumonia vax, or one of their many other vax.
@ginni_bb@DonEford The Pfizer deal has nothing to do with Novavax covid vax. Pfizer is using it for their pneumonia vax.
Sanofi owns all rights to Novavax covid vax and has better distribution than Pfizer. Just need the long term mRNA contracts to run out, then Sanofi can use their connections.
@KllN349312@EndemicPrepared Sanofi submitted for fast track approval late 2025 when they took over most Novavax markets and authorization. The next TGA meeting is early Feb 2026 and Novavax approval should be on agenda.
@KllN349312@EndemicPrepared AI suggested it based on novavax refund to Australia if not approved/available by March 2026. If approved novavax keeps the $97 million deposit and will deliver the doses. At $60 estimated/dose = 1.5 million doses.
@michaelzlin This not true, although protein is better. They are using Matrix-M (broad utility) in their other products, most likely their pneumonia vax. Pfizer doesn't say anything about Covid vax. They are still selling Biontech covid vax because they are market leader, no reason to pivot.
@equusjf@Biff234523 Pfizer has nothing to do with Novavax covid vax. Sanofi owns rights to the Novavax covid vax. Matrix-M is component of Novavax covid vax, and Pfizer only has a license to use Matrix-M in their products, most likely their Pneumonia vax.
Novavax still owns everything.
@GreeneWendy@Biff234523 Sanofi owns rights to the Novavax covid vax. This Pfizer deal has nothing to do with Covid vax, they are licensing Matrix-M adjuvant. Matrix-M can be applied to many vaccines, treatments. It is used in the most effective Malaria vax. Pfizer will use it in their Pneumonia vax.
@SarahMcGinger@Biff234523 Sanofi is trying to make Nuvaxovid available in Canada for Spring 2026. If they can't manage to do it because of economics/gov't, they will definitely try to make it available Fall 2026 since Sanofi controls everything for covid vax now, while last year were still transitioning.
@SarahMcGinger@Biff234523 The Matrix-M adjuvant has broad uses, oncology, vaccines, mRNA. Matrix-M is jewel of Novavax, the Covid vaccine is a single product. Matrix-M is in most effective Malaria vaccine and is the reason for the high effectiveness, already been given to 25 million African children.
@SarahMcGinger@Biff234523 Pfizer is licensing the Matrix-M adjuvant from Novavax. It is totally unrelated to Novavax covid vax, Nuvaxovid. It is rumored that Pfizer will be using the Matrix-M in their Pneumonia Vaccine.
Novavax already licensed the covid vax to Sanofi, who is now responsible for it.
@EndemicPrepared Since Novavax already approved by US FDA, and Europe EMA, and all other countries they applied to, it is very likely Australia will also approve, especially now that Sanofi is handling everything.
@EndemicPrepared Sanofi is now in charge and carries the most weight with regulators because they have most of the flu vax market. Their plan is to offer both flu and covid vax to doctor's offices and is likely TGA will approve. Novavax carried little weight, while Sanofi is the largest player.
@EndemicPrepared Sanofi/Novavax submitted the latest approval request to TGA, the Australian health regulator late 2025 for fast track approval. TGA are expected to review it in Early Feb. and approve it within 6 days after the meeting, this seems to meet the timelines for Australia vax season.
