🚨 The Weekend @australian front page calls it: @JEChalmers ’ tax “fix” is a non-starter.
@FinancialReview Chanticleer confirms: “Australian fund managers are largely ropeable about capital gains tax changes, government spending and the superannuation performance test, all of which they think are crimping ASX returns.”
This is exactly what we’ve been warning about @AlboMP & @JEChalmers ’s war on capital is destroying aspiration, investment, and returns for everyday Australians.

It’s preposterous. The average Australian citizen now needs a team of accountants and experts just to navigate the regulatory maze its Parliaments have created.

Multiply that across dozens of regulatory bodies and you get a system that will trap the unwary.

Decades of politicians have created an overly complex, overly regulated society where obeying the law feels almost impossible for normal people.

The PBO is right to call out the dodgy modelling in @AlboMP & @JEChalmers ‘s Budget. Australia now has one of the world’s highest effective capital gains tax rates at up to 60%+ pure economic vandalism that punishes aspiration, investment and entrepreneurship.

It’s all Hogwash and Geoff Francis via @FinancialReview just confirmed it: @AlboMP & @JEChalmers ‘s new CGT can push effective tax rates on retail investors up to 80%. Their own comments says it will "bias retail investors heavily against risk-taking." That's not reform, that's economic vandalism. #ScrapTheCGTHeist #hogwash
