@CommonsEd@DrAlexGeorge@YoungMindsUK@Place2Be@RcpsychCAP I know you've received a lot of stick but that's because you're acting as the mouthpiece of the government. The headlines may sound good to anyone not involved in CYP mental health, but for those who are, children, families and professionals, we see straight through it.
@CommonsEd@DrAlexGeorge@YoungMindsUK@Place2Be@RcpsychCAP Funding for training for schools mental health leads was suspended last Jan (before covid) and the role is not essential as outlined in the green paper - why not?
It's imperative the govt address these issues because until they do - it's all hot air and it's children who pay.
@CommonsEd@DrAlexGeorge@YoungMindsUK@Place2Be@RcpsychCAP We must ensure that more than 1% of the health budget is given over to CYP mental health services. You can go with the headline figures as much as you like but when it's represented as 1% it seems different. CCGs need to be made accountable for spending on CYP mental health.
@CommonsEd@DrAlexGeorge@YoungMindsUK@Place2Be@RcpsychCAP I firmly believe that we can begin to address this through schools but only if the system changes dramatically. For starters, progress8 has to go to allow schools to focus on wellbeing. Sure Start and youth clubs have to reopen, grass root services are essential.
@CommonsEd@DrAlexGeorge@YoungMindsUK@Place2Be@RcpsychCAP The problem is the services aren't there! Regardless of how much money has just been secured, it's still a fraction of what's been cut. Youth and children's services have been all but eliminated and demands on schools, & by extension children, add to poor mental health.
@DrAlexGeorge You accused people within the mental health community of trolling you and being abusive when they were simply pointing out inadequacies within the system
Nobody was being unkind, they were pointing out the reality we live through every day and what change needs to happen
@DrAlexGeorge@CaraLisette I didn’t see anything of the sort!! I didn’t see any trolling, simply people who have been through pain and let down from the government trying to fight for the changes needed. We want to work with you to make change but that’s clearly not reciprocated
If Mental Health really does matter to this Govt @DrAlexGeorge you should listen to @_NatashaDevon’s show tonight on @LBC catch-up app. You could potentially make a huge positive impact here, and not just be a gesture of tokenism to make the Govt look good. #mentalhealthmatters
Very Brave! @JonAshworth who clearly cares about #MentalHealth - I'm sure he wouldn't have declined talking to the nation on @LBC @_NatashaDevon's show tonight, unlike @NadineDorries the OFFICIAL Minister for MH.
Covid has hugely impacted mental health especially for those with addiction.
High risk drinking has soared & substance misuse budgets cut.
3 years ago I spoke out personally. Mental health & addiction remains a priority for me.

Well done Barry the first time caller with mental illness difficulties 👏🏼👏🏼 #WMHD2020#WorldMentalHealthDay Thank you @_NatashaDevon for being such a #MentalHealth / #MentalIllness Advocate. Normalising the issue so people feel more comfortable discussing MH & MI is life saving💚
