It was to generate power and broadcast it through the air, in a safe and efficient manner. A secondary purpose was to amplify the earths energies and attenuate them.

The Great Pyramid was built as a repository of knowledge and an initiation center.
The second and third Giza pyramids were built to complete the Orion triad ("As above, so below").
All the rest were imitations, and so e were eventually reused as tombs.

@TimelineAncient Pyramids were built to keep a growing populace occupied, employed, and paying taxes.

There's only so much arable land, not everyone can be a farmer or tradesmen. Gotta make jobs somehow if you wanna keep the proles in check. Sports and projects of grandiosity keep the peace!
