“This morning at about 11.15 a rocket landed in a field a few hundred yards inland from the town station. One old lady died shock and 52 were injured by flying glass, etc.”

Flying Bombs being shot down by propellor-driven fighters probably Spitfires & Tempests. He then writes:
“One of our new JET PLANES gave it a burst & it burst in mid air”
