“Another rocket landed in the sea off Hampton near Herne Bay at about 8.15 this morning.”

“This morning at about 11.15 a rocket landed in a field a few hundred yards inland from the town station. One old lady died shock and 52 were injured by flying glass, etc.”

“ Flying bombs come over periodically all day yesterday & one landed at Denstroude it badly damaged a house & demolished a barn, it also fired a hay stack.”

“Last night there was much Doodle bug activity one fell in the marshes blowing one of our windows out which we omitted to open Fortunately there no were no cows in the field where it fell one was cut on the leg in an adjoining field”

Kent Messenger Friday 15th September 1944 published a map entitled
“WHERE THE “DOODLE BUGS” CRASHED IN KENT
The Flying Bomb campaign would last until April 1945 when the last one came down on the foreshore at Iwade in north Kent.

Between June 1944 & April 1945 four ‘Doodlbugs’ Flying Bombs landed in Whitstable and surrounding villages.
Many hundreds flew over the town on way to their principal target #London
