As the President of the University of Ibadan Students' Union, I consider it necessary to state my position regarding the recent publication by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, concerning the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, FAS, mni.

The publication was made without any consultation with me or the leadership of the University of Ibadan Students' Union. At no point was I contacted to verify the allegations contained therein, neither did I authorize anyone to speak on behalf of our Union.

During my tenure as President, the Students' Union has not shied away from confronting issues affecting students. We have openly disagreed with the University Management when necessary, organized lawful protests—including a full-scale protest—and engaged in difficult negotiations in defence of students' interests. Those engagements were never without challenges, but they were met with dialogue, and meaningful resolutions were reached without the victimization of student leaders.

For this reason, and based on my personal experience as President of the University of Ibadan Students' Union, I consider the allegations and characterization of Professor Kayode O. Adebowale contained in the publication to be unfounded. They do not reflect my experience of his administration.
Leadership demands honesty, even when it is inconvenient. As President, I owe the students I represent the truth as I know it.

While no administration is without its disagreements, I will not support or remain silent in the face of allegations that, in my considered opinion, are inconsistent with the facts as I have experienced them.
The University of Ibadan Students' Union has a proud history of intellectual, courageous, and responsible unionism. We have never outsourced our mandate to speak for our students, and we never will. Whenever the Union has a position on any issue affecting our students or our University, it will be communicated by the elected leadership of the Union through our official channels.
This is my considered position, and I stand firmly by it.

President Tinubu has approved the expansion of the Nigerian Army’s structure from eight to 12 divisions to enhance the country’s security architecture and improve operational effectiveness.

The new divisions will be sited in Makurdi, Ilorin, Jalingo, and Benin City.

Under the new structure, the Nigerian Army will operate 12 divisions, strategically positioned across the country as follows:

1. 1 Division Headquarters – Kaduna: Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States
2. 2 Division Headquarters – Ibadan: Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo States
3. 3 Division Headquarters – Jos: Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe States
4. 5 Division Headquarters – Makurdi: Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi States
5. 6 Division Headquarters – Port Harcourt: Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States
6. 7 Division Headquarters – Maiduguri: Borno and Yobe States
7. 8 Division Headquarters – Sokoto: Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States
8. 9 Division Headquarters – Ilorin: Kwara and Niger States
9. 10 Division Headquarters – Jalingo: Taraba and Adamawa States
10. 81 Division Headquarters – Lagos: Lagos and Ogun States
11. 82 Division Headquarters – Enugu: Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, and Imo States
12. 83 Division Headquarters – Benin City: Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa States

Tinubu also approved the recruitment of 28,000 additional personnel, the acquisition of critical military platforms and equipment, and improvements in troop welfare.
