@Mqtjuiced Start each Zoom session with a 5-10 min icebreaker in small groups. Then, come back and listen to me talk for a few minutes. Then, students go back in breakout rooms to accomplish a task on a shared Google doc or slide. I watch progress from the main room. Debrief.

@daniel_j_crumbo Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice. They require a subscription, which they’ll discount to $150. I see other journals also have a submission fee/subscription requirement. Is that common? Do institutions help cover those costs, or are researchers expected to pay?
I got my first article submission accepted from an academic journal today. But, the fine print says I need to buy a subscription of the journal for $320. Is this normal or am I being scammed??? #AcademicTwitter
Note to self: If my Black students and colleagues are just now seeing me stand up and hearing me speak out, then I have been part of the problem. Right now is the easiest time to be an ally. Am I ready to stand up and speak out when it is not so easy?
Students,
By now, you are taking courses fully online, or will soon move to a fully online format. Please reach out to your instructors for assistance. Remain flexible through these tough times, and realize that being open to new ways of learning prepares you for the future!
@AmeliaNGibson Right?! Same. I always want to use two l’s but Word corrects to one l. Google says ll is more common in British English and l is more common for American English. 🤷♀️
There is no precedent for putting coreq developmental education online. If you have any other suggestions for this transition, please share! #CovidCampus#AcademicChatter#covidEDU

Please be tolerant of your colleagues sending "helpful" tips for how to move your class online to the the department listserv. Yes, we recognize it is a combination of self-promotion (look at how great my online materials already were!) and virtue signaling.
Research takes A LOT OF TIME.
Time to think.
Time to plan.
Time to execute fieldwork and/or data collection/cleaning databases
Time to reflect.
Time to read.
Time to write
Time to take notes.
Why aren’t we talking more about this?
Good research can’t be rushed.
