This is why we must support @JoshStein_ . The stakes are too high and the road ahead is more than tough. Josh is a leader who says he will do something, and then gets it done. #ncpol
BREAKING: Today, North Carolina has ended the sexual assault kit backlog. This is a milestone more than six years in the making to deliver justice for victims and survivors.
Friday in the First.
George Kenneth Butterfield, Jr., also known as “G.K.,” is a lifelong resident of Wilson County. After 18 years of service representing North Carolina's First Congressional District, he retired from the U.S. House of Representatives. Most notably, the North Carolina Department of Transportation on February 1 named an 8.5-stretch of Interstate 95 in his honor. He served as a Resident Superior Court judge and justice on the North Carolina Supreme Court. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970.
As we travel I-95 between Exit 73 at U.S. 158 in Roanoke Rapids to the Virginia line, let us reflect on G.K.'s many contributions to eastern North Carolina. #FridaySpotlight
Today a wonderful woman passed away. Senator Jean Carnahan who survived tragedy with grit and grace, a woman who served others both in and out of the public eye. I know her family will miss her terribly, along with all of us lucky enough to be her friend.
There’s a story going around saying that Martin Sheen is supporting @RobertKennedyJr for president. The story is incorrect. Martin asked us to post this on his behalf.
“I wholeheartedly support President Joe Biden and the democratic ticket in 2024.
Sincerely,
Martin Sheen”
We often look at the politics that separates us, but forget the millions of things that make us the same. The state of NC is better because of the service of @JamesPerryNC and I count it as an honor to have worked alongside him #ncpol
@JeffJacksonNC is an amazing Congressman and was an amazing Senator when we served together in Raleigh. The next chapter for you hasn’t even been written yet
I served with Frances in the Legislature and she will be missed. Well done thou good and faithful and servant.

9/11 was one of the worst days in American history.
Today, we remember the victims, their families, and the brave first responders for their courage and bravery. #NeverForget
Surprise, Surprise. Tate Reeves is tied for the distinction of being the most UNPOPULAR Governor in the nation. Mississippians see straight through his failed leadership and phony words. https://t.co/ZxAAwwfTga
Hey, folks - This is your NC DMV Commissioner. For the 4th Saturday AM in a row there have been few to no customers in our Triad area (Greensboro and Winston-Salem) DMV offices. Lack of interest may be a future factor as we explore additional expansion of DMV services for customers. We even have folks driving from Raleigh to Greensboro today for these Sat hours because of the empty/almost empty waiting rooms in Greensboro. Spread the word about Saturdays. #ncpol @greensborocity@CityofWS@CityofWilm@CLTgov
Mississippi finished FY2023 with a nearly $700 million budget surplus. This is further proof of our state’s economic strength and conservative budgeting practices.
This money is burning a hole in Democrats’ pockets. They want to blow through this money by expanding welfare and spending it on pet projects. I want to return it to you.
I am heartbroken to learn about the passing of @ConenMorgan, well before his time. He was a fixture in North Carolina politics and my prayers are with his family right now. He will truly be missed.
