@Zoe_ZouYi They'd do better to replace the law firm than sell to them. A la Atrium from Justin Kan (which died because it was ~3yrs too early). Even as this becomes increasingly obvious, Harvey will struggle to shift the business model because of its existing revenue base.
@hkanji@metpoliceuk phone thieves most likely. Sad state of affairs. Stay safe. I’ve seen them getting more violent when grabbing phones in two encounters I witnessed recently.
interesting take. When you say this: “bottom quartile assets will be able to stay alive longer due to reduced cogs in niches, middle 50% assets suddenly can be run for cash but are not venture outcomes, and the winners will be orders of magnitude bigger”…
do you think this is true of all software industries / software products?
Agree that the bottom quartiles get more competitive. But not sure that the top companies necessarily drive more returns in all cases (eg more concentration of returns — fewer & bigger companies).
I’d tend to think it depends on the specific dynamics of each sub-industry (Hamilton Helmer’s 7 Powers etc)
Really neat article from our brilliant @blakereary, thinking through the role of design. Excited to see this evolve @ironclad_inc!

Awesome to have @sequoia onboard for our Series B. Exciting times for #legaltech!
Expect to see BIG things from @ironclad_inc this year. 🔥🔥 https://t.co/AY4muzCxzQ
@paulg Also, ideally, the incumbent is not only inefficient today but structurally-committed to their inefficiency in some way. In the private sector, partnerships and billable hours-based business models in pro services firms come to mind, for example.
@anord04 Totally agree. VCs correctly view #legaltech as a tough market. And perhaps they see few good investment opportunities in the space. But this only increases the opportunity for startups who can show traction, it doesn’t put it further out of reach. Think of the pent-up demand!
@anord04 Sure, but I don’t think anyone has that obligation; not VCs, and certainly not the firms being disrupted. The onus has to be on founders to make it happen, as it always is. The difficult circumstances are exactly the point, and I’m not sure it’s greater than in other industries.
