Hello I'm Tom! a co-founder at game publisher tinyBuild.
I helped sign a lot of our games, and now I'm a developer again! Working on a cool secret game :)
@DUSKdev I've seen a lot of couples play decision-focused games like The Walking Dead or Detroit together, but I've never seen a game designed around that.
2 or more players agreeing on a decision together, and that's the game. Maybe you're a jury or a town hall or something.
@DUSKdev My wife looks at animals and reviews their gaits and behaviour to diagnose them with physio problems, and prescribe exercises for them to train specific muscle regions.
So I've never seen that in a game.
If an animal is in a game, you usually shoot, eat, pet or ride it.
@laussa75@DUSKdev Love this idea!
I think for a lot of players it'd just feel immersive, you might not even stop to think about how difficult it was to make.
Last year, miHoYo copied my puzzle game Ouros in Zenless Zone Zero.
Because they are a recognized, billion-dollar studio and my game isn't well known, some people are now assuming that their version is the original, and mine is the clone.
I hope this video clears that up.
@IndieGameJoe Wow, a lovely read! Thanks for sharing your story, I think it's really cool that you've worked on some good games yourself.
Wish you the best of luck on really getting to know yourself and feeling at home, Joe. Don't forget that's top priority!
I'm doing a pass on the game where any important sound sources have visual indicators if you're not looking at them.
I just find players don't hone in on sounds very well, and now the game's more accessible for people who can't hear anyway.

@MKovyatkin ok the cabinet in the back left moved, the beer bottles moved, the dart in the dart board is gone, the light in the kitchen was an LED strip but now it's a spot light... pretty fun spot the difference game!
@DevRelCallum I feel like "This solo dev is building their own Battlefield 6" has been a type of headline for a long time
But I do give Indie Game Joe the credit for stamping it as his daily catchphrase this year.
@TheCartelDel This must've been so annoying from his perspective 🤣
"Hey this is Michael Jackson, I really wanna work together" in a high-pitched voice is exactly what a prank call in the 90s would say. So you can't blame them for hanging up!
I watched this and it also bugged me! They spotted a funny quirk about a game and they're just rambling about it like it's a big disaster.
There's no game over screen in Florence, or Untitled Goose Game or Stardew Valley either. It's fine! Spider-Man has gameplay moments like this too. Mixtape is a niche experiment, we really don't have to crucify it.
The most impactful things in Minecraft are the feelings that come from the mechanics. Building a house and feeling proud of it, learning to be scared of the wilderness at night, learning to be brave, getting yourself stuck, setting your own goals and seeing new value in old things once your goals change...
You can't talk about the themes of Minecraft without talking about the play experience that the mechanics guide you towards.
Yes, that's usually the case when looking at theme in games. I'm playing Death Stranding right now where you can only interact with other players by sending them aid packages. You can earn Likes, and they don't reward anything, but players send Likes anyway.
There's a lot going on, it's a game about loneliness, grief, and helping each other out.
