.I run @LordFredericLe1
niche question here-Does anyone own or have access to a copy of Tobias Calinski's catull in bild und ton untersuchungen zur catull-rezeption in malerei und komposition? I have been reading it on google books but the one page I need is not in the preview! any help appreciated!
@da3m0ne Yes definitely! That's a good idea, and it works well for that since most of the episodes are stand alone (with some exceptions like USS Callister: Into Infinity)!
may be a long shot, but could anyone please help me identify an ancient Greek relief depicted within a late 19th century painting? I'm pretty sure its not from the Parthenon but would still love to find out - spent a while looking already but maybe another perspective would help!
@J_Green_505 Yeah weird, I think that's meant to be princess Sabra but didnt notice the leash - apparently (according to google) she is taking back to town๐Going to do a little further reading around Saint George and the Dragon as this is quite interesting!
Can an #twitterhistorians please help me in identifying a painting within a painting? I think it may be an early Renaissance work featured within the painting!
I'm currently looking through the Burne-Jones Catalogue Raisonne and found a really cool study he made of Vittore Carpaccio's 1502 painting, St. George and the Dragon!!
@alvantiques Wow its a stunning piece! Although I think it may not be directly in a Pre-Raphaelite vain, but more so associated with panel paintings of religious icons also popular during the nineteenth century! Maybe looking at these kind of artists could help narrow it down!? just an idea!
