@TraceyRyniec@JohnBuschVI There are rail yards, but what are the others? We have no real ports, trucking is not centered really anywhere. FedEx/ups/dhl do have central hubs and they aren’t here.
@kscottz@NickPinkston "those who live there" have voted in yimby politicians for 4 election cycles in a row and a champing at the bit for more housing. "Build more" is the popular view based on elections and polls. The meetings are an unrepresentative slice.
Let em cook!
@LukeCanasta@frank_smith1111 there is no development because the california coastal commission has land use authority over everything in ocean beach and has had that authority for over 50 years, its blocked at a state level, nothing to do with what the locals want or don't want
@SinaiLawFirm@coryfromphilly the argument is "the laws that we passed that make this project legal to build will make SF affordable by allowing many of this type of project to be built easily"
you don't have a viable argument for why this project should be excepted from the law, not even a pretense
@SinaiLawFirm@coryfromphilly also this is a really strange objection because the law is that this building conforms to regulations and its getting built and and all the old people in the photo are the ones who are getting mad and seeking an extra legal exception. We're not mad, we're happy its getting built
@SinaiLawFirm@coryfromphilly because my wife is a surgeon at UCSF and shes on call for airway emergencies at UCSF parnassus so she needs to be a 15 minute drive away for her shifts so if you get in a car accident and get brought there you don't die of asphyxiation, thats why we can't live in oakland
@MostlyMonkey You think being 50 and interviewing for an IC sales role is easier today?
No one is hiring a middle of the pack 50 year old sales IC who applied cold. Same for Eng roles. You need to be warm intro and excellent
@TrentonWoodcox@LinkofSunshine depends on the rent vs own differential cost which is very market specific
if you're in a VHCOL city it is never cheaper to own
if you're in a tier 3 city, rent v own is less skewed and the lines cross in 10-30 years
@jeff82874662 the moat is going to be apps
the OIA/A are going to build their own saas products
if you can steal the model through API access then you move up the stack, hide the model, and sell the product
@TheStalwart The valuable data comes from datasets at mercor and handshake, they pay experts to solve problems and explain step by step reasoning
Data used in RLHF post training
User data doesn’t have expert focus and step by step reasoning
@TheStalwart I'm a cto of small tech company
big thing fable has unlocked for us is getting product managers to use claude code to use the context of our codebase to make prototypes and write queries
its smart enough to understand what to do without an engineer prompting more strictly
@bronzebust Move from SF to here a year ago and there’s plenty of hobbies to pick up.
I’ve gotten into tennis, sailing, and training for a marathon
Sports (volleyball, basketball, etc), Art, acting/comedy, and gardening are all super accessible
@kevinchawkins@SeanTrende option 1 takes place automatically without any action from congress, benefits are proportionally cut to the funding gap, right now looks like its 22% across the board.
