Eli Lilly's weight loss drugs are generating roughly the same revenue as ChatGPT and Claude combined.
All three products launched within a 10-month window of each other (May 2022 to March 2023).
Today's annualized run rates:
Lilly's Mounjaro + Zepbound: $51B
ChatGPT + Claude: $55B
But revenue alone misses the real story. Look at the margins.
ChatGPT and Claude are running at roughly 40% to 50% gross margins, with energy and hardware costs showing no signs of coming down. Lilly, by contrast, is operating at approximately 80% margins.
Translating that to expected annual gross profit: Lilly's Mounjaro + Zepbound: $40B ChatGPT + Claude: $22B
Despite all the hype around Generative AI (and trust me, I'm hyped), it's striking that a single drug class from a single company is generating nearly double the profit of the two most prominent AI labs combined.
Chine post-1978, Vietnam post-1986, Inde post-1991, Pologne post-1989.
#SGMO My wife asked me why I'm still in $SGMO at $0.19. After 15 minutes of explaining, she surprisingly agreed — and we bought more: Sangamo is for me the Apple of the '90s — in medicine. A company with world-class technology, an unmatched and — crucially — to date undisputed patent portfolio.
I know probably 90% of people will disagree with me. But I genuinely believe Dr. Sandy Macrae is a visionary who is 100% committed to his company and its mission. To stick with the Apple comparison: He's not Jobs — he's Wozniak. Forgive me the comparison. "Drumming up hype" isn't his strength. Medicine is.
If there's criticism: The pivot to Fabry as the lead program probably came too late. Years were spent on partnerships that didn't work out. The focus and the hard cuts should have happened earlier. But they happened — and what's left is the strongest core of the portfolio.
Watch this video. Dr. Sandy Macrae, 25+ years in medicine, presenting ST-920 to Fabry patients and families. His voice breaks. "I have been doing drug development for 27 years. This is the most beautiful medicine I have ever seen."
This is not marketing. This is a physician who knows what his team built — and fought to keep it alive. https://t.co/ZdPogiUthz (from 14:05)
What Sangamo actually owns — to date, all key patents undisputed: Zinc Finger Platform — 25+ years, hundreds of patents. The foundation of epigenetic gene regulation. No DNA cuts, no CRISPR risks.
ST-920 (Fabry) — BLA 60%+ submitted to FDA. eGFR improves instead of declining. All 18 ERT patients off biweekly infusions. 4.5 years durable. QC-verified results published on https://t.co/3pT41YRx3X.
ST-503 (Chronic Pain/Nav1.7) — IND-enabling studies complete. 60% target knockdown in primates. Phase 1 ready. Addressing an $80B+ pain market.
ST-506 (Prion Disease) — Brain-wide suppression in primates via single IV dose. First potential treatment for a 100% fatal disease with zero approved therapies.
STAC-BBB Capsid — Licensed to Eli Lilly ($1.4B in milestones), Genentech, and Astellas. Three of the world's biggest pharma companies paying for access to Sangamo's brain-penetrant delivery technology.
MINT Platform — Reprogrammed integrase achieving 28–35% targeted gene integration in human T cells. No double-strand breaks. A safer alternative to CRISPR for CAR-T cell engineering. Patent granted.
nAbCyte Companion Diagnostic — Validated anti-AAV6 antibody assay. Patent granted. Effectively a toll booth for every AAV6-based gene therapy in existence.
Programs were cut along the way. Not because the science failed — because the money ran out. Hemophilia A, Sickle Cell, Beta-Thalassemia, CAR-Treg — all sacrificed to keep the core alive. 478 employees cut to 183. Hard decisions. Sandy cut everything except what matters most.
And now they're here. BLA nearly complete. Four abstracts accepted at ASGCT 2026. Three Big Pharma licensees. A patent fortress. $78M market cap.
The only thing missing is 3–6 months of runway. In my eyes, that's all. That's the gap between $0.19 and a platform that could define the next 20 years of genetic medicine. SEC compliance and likely ongoing negotiations prevent Sandy from saying what he'd want to say. But the science speaks for itself.
Speaking of undisputed patents: How many people are fighting over CRISPR money right now? How many patent disputes are still ongoing there?
I see no reason, and no possibility, for this company to disappear from the face of the earth. The patents alone are priceless in the near future. Not financial advice, just common sense (or maybe not).
But in all seriousness: If this medicine were to be withheld from Fabry patients because of a bankruptcy, or because Big Pharma wanted to pick up the pieces for pennies — knowing these patients have no real alternative — that would be a crime against humanity in my eyes.
#Energie - Subventionen

Have a great weekend!
7x average daily volume traded hands and shorts did NOT cover based on No shares available and high rate to borrow.
Good luck to us.
Another testimony of $LLY increasing dominance in the BioTech and Pharma sector - especially amid a possible $ABVX mega M&A deal - can be seen in this excellent @evaluatepharma 📊👇. While the patent cliff scenario is expected to affect most of the Big Pharma companies - $PFE $JNJ $NVS $BMY $ABBV $MRK $SNY and others, the way it will impact each company varies greatly from one company to another. Unlike other Big Pharma companies Eli Lilly is expected to generate almost $50B in sales above the average growth rate (!) while all of the other Pharma companies - except $NVO, are expected to have negative growth rates by 2030. Absolutely remarkable! $XBI
$MREO -interesting observation by Cantor - What Stood Out to Us the Most? High Percent of Patients Are in OLE Studies for Orbit and Cosmic.
Mgt noted they are very pleased with both the trial retentions and the number of patients that have transitioned into the OLE studies.
It is potentially a bullish signal that those patients who were on setrusumab are staying on drug, suggesting it could be working $RARE
$MREO $RARE Retail always gets worried when a big readout is near. The SA author is a little wobbly. Also by her own admission doesn't have enough info about the P2 trial to draw conclusions from that dataset. All she has is what has been published. Like all of us, she doesn’t have a full data dump from RARE.
One okay point she made is the two trials have a control group. One is placebo, and the one with the younger population is up against something that obviously might have little bit of efficacy. The trial will be a little bit harder to get statistical significant out of it. On the bright side, the <0.05 is a little higher than the Orbit study, which is helpful.
Some portion of the results, a large portion, need to have statistically significant data that allows the Null Hypothesis to be rejected. She also doesn’t take into consideration that most orphan disease drug drugs in phase 3 are approved.
The mechanism inhibits sclerostin that helps you grow your bones. The reason you get OI is because you are missing collagen I. This is means you have a genetic disease.
As required, she disclosed that she has a short position on RARE. However, when you look at her position, she likely owns shares of RARE. It could be that she is bad at trading options. Unless she made a mistake disclosing her exact position, she shouldn’t be able to talk on the stock if she isn’t being transparent. I know she didn’t sell a naked call. If the stock moves to $55 (note: $50 call is popular in Jan), she would lose $35 per share, if she doesn’t have the position covered with RARE stock. Why not keep it simple and buy the $20 put? Quite odd. I don’t think it drops below $20 if news isn’t good because they have too much going on.
