@geraldposner Interesting. In such a high-profile trial, it seem strange that this judge would deviate from standard procedures. It certainly raises the question as to whether he is trying to tip the scales. At the very least, it would give the prosecution an avenue of appeal.

A quick legal thought on news the Lindsay Clancy jury appears deadlocked: Under Massachusetts law, preliminary jury instructions are supposed to tell jurors NOT to consider or speculate about the maximum penalty for any charge.

This judge did the opposite. He told jurors exactly what the max penalty was for each charge.

I thought that was a mistake because it created a real risk: jurors sentence-bargaining over what they think she deserves as punishment instead of focusing on guilt vs. lack of criminal responsibility.

@HarrisonKrank The LC verdict is not the real issue. The overwhelming support a murderer is getting from women is the issue. Supporting those with mental health issues is fine. Turning her into a cult icon and empathizing with her actions is a far bigger, and more dangerous concern.

@WomanDefiner Based on the opinions here, it makes sense the three ladies don't want to convict LC. The two ladies are excited at another chance to get LC cleared and the older lady is frustrated because she can't get her way. That is only my best guess, however.

The Juror that is visibly upset and rolling her eyes at the judge is an older female who people suspect is pro prosecution.

2 younger females smiled and looked at each other when they were sent back into deliberations. There you go. That's where we are.

@SandorActual Opening his car door was the equivalent to walking in someone's house uninvited. You stop being a woman. You are now a threat to be dealt with. She is extremely lucky he didn't pull a gun and end her life right there. Instead, she just got some bruises and a bruised ego.

@LisaBritton @SenRubenGallego There are plenty of organizations, both private and public, that profit from these "gender wars." While men and women fight, they take their focus off of issues that affect everyone. Bringing men's issues into the light goes against that directive, so they want it defeated.

@Rich_Cooper Wow, I wish I had $10k/month post-tax to worth with. I'd be very interested to know what job she is doing that kind of money. As for her expenses, $1k/month on "shopping?" I don't think I could find that much worth spending on outside of unplanned expenses.

@MibshaD Let me counter with this: What steps are women taking to reduce their number of unplanned pregnancies? Obviously, not all can be avoided. But, what about the ones where a woman behaves carelessly and then wants abortion as a solution to avoid those consequences?

@thefightsclub This is how men bond with their kids. Fathers roughhouse with their kids all the time. You can see at the end that he is chastising them for using the weapons, which is a good lesson. Hopefully, they will come to understand boundaries and when weapons are appropriate.

@kiara7829 Women's physical attractiveness and fertility are highest pre-30. These are two primary factors that drive men to form romantic relationship and/or marry them. Thus, it is your "prime" time for achieving those objectives. After 30, those factors decline, sometimes rapidly.

@MissLELOMK1 What was it that you were asking him for? Just because you ask him over and over doesn't mean that your request is reasonable. Also, telling someone no can be a sign of caring and concern. Part of protecting people is stopping them from doing things that are harmful.

@SofiaHollanov @missrobinson I am entitled to my opinion. Nobody is obligated to listen to it or to take my suggestion. Ultimately, if these ladies find it fun, it doesn't matter what I, or anyone else thinks, does it? Everyone is free to make their own decisions, regardless of how I feel.

@thepeaklady I come at mental health from a male perspective, but many of the same concerns exist for both genders: Drugs being handed out like candy, not being "believed" when you tell a doctor something is going on, being left to "figure things out" on your own. That isn't a gender issue.

@EvanMahoney_ I fully agree this will be the case. Hopefully, the men have enough conviction to stand their ground. Also, they will need patience....lots and lots of patience.
