@andrewrosener I know the famous adage that one cannot improve what isn't tracked or measured, but this assumes a managerial worldview, and the world is already drowning in micromanagement. Trying to control the flow is what impedes it.
@andrewrosener Measuring and metrics already get it wrong. It's the endless quantification of life that reduces life to an abstract equation. Our big brains have made us top heavy as a species. Many ancient cultures regarded the heart as the true seat of intelligence.
@LucBiggs Pricing all my matching .si in the range of 10-20% of my .ai seemed like the obvious play from the jump, and staying open to adjusting as things unfold.
@dompedia@DomainKing@MariaElviraXYZ It's a journey, and you need to persist in learning and doing over time to succeed. I've been at this almost 20 years now. If you feel a strong pull toward it, keep going and continue learning and growing, and you'll find a way.
This is your reminder from a mid 50s guy. All this work, all these side hustles, are all to have an enjoyable life. Not at the end, but in the middle. Spend it on memories and things you probably think you shouldn't.
Domains, websites, flipping, all paid for trips with my Mom and family. Runs and conferences all over the world that made no financial sense, but now I wouldn't trade for 3x that cost.
I've enjoyed all this work, all this building, and at the same time I never miss an opportunity to do something I will remember. There are very little "I wish I had" to this point and I plan on crossing off any that I have
I am seeing more and more people trying to extract other domainers .si acquisitions in the comments, usually under the pretext of ..I might be interested in buying it.
With hand-reg opportunities becoming increasingly scarce and most of the obvious good names already taken, it seems some have run out of ideas and are now using other domainers acquisitions as a research tool seeing what others found, then checking the surrounding names and patterns for themselves.
The registry is getting competitive enough that even sharing what you bought can effectively give someone a roadmap to what they should be looking at next..
