We are happy to share our latest work on RNA polymerase I! We continued our #CryoEM study of its stalling mechanism, this time at abasic lesions, and uncovered interesting Pol I configurations.

@Ella_Maru @biorxivpreprint @asantosaledo @4k4h1g3 Hi! The unique mechanism provides a strong signal for lesion repair that protects against undesired mutations in rRNA. The atomic details provided by our cryo-EM structures at several stages of the mechanism open avenues for therapeutic interventions. Hope that helps!

Have you ever heard of 11-subunit RNA polymerase I? We describe a structure lacking A12 in addition to A49/A34.5!
