Our sprint training has been very heavily influenced by @pntrack and #feedthecats.
We've had at least one sprint relay team on the podium at state finals every year since 2022.
2022 - 4x100
2023 - 4x100
2024 - 4x100 and 4x200
2025 - 4x200
2026 - 4x200 and 4x400
Not too bad!
@FrankDelavergne@AltamontXCTF@TrackCoachJones There is no such thing as free distance. The baton is going to travel the same 30 meters through the zone whether the the baton is outstretched, next to, or thrown. The key factor remains how fast it travels through that 30 meters.
@MikeBasic2@AltamontXCTF@TrackCoachJones I don't agree, but that's fine. The beauty of this thing is that there are very few key principles, but thousands of methods. No matter what kind of handoff you coach, it has to be coached well and executed with precision. Best of luck to you and your teams!
@FrankDelavergne@AltamontXCTF@TrackCoachJones It's pretty simple. Fastest time wins. If the baton slows down in the zone, it leads to a slower time. The more it slows down, the slower the overall time becomes. The faster the baton stays through the zone, the less detriment to overall time.
@AltamontXCTF@MikeBasic2@TrackCoachJones "I though this coach might be on to something but then I saw that all his athletes just kept improving."
I'm being sarcastic here, but these aren't unrelated. And our current lineup, which is slower in open 200s than our last lineup, is still one of the fastest in the state!
We love our fly by’s, it started as an idea, and almost broke the school record last year. We have broke it twice in the last 2 weeks. Still not perfect, but we got 1 race left.
