A brief tweetorial 1/n:
Thrilled to announce that today was my first day @digitalisvc as an Analyst on the Life sciences investment team. Many thanks to Geoff, @mistiushio , Sam, and @jf376 for the opportunity to join the Digitalis team. 1/5
I am looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and meeting new people working to expand the boundaries of the possible in science and medicine. 5/5
I am deeply grateful to my wife and daughter as well as the countless friends, colleagues and mentors from Oklahoma to Harvard, MIT, nference, Duke and beyond who have supported my journey through science, medicine, biotech and now VC. 4/5
Hard to believe it has already been 2 years. I feel so lucky to watch her grow into a curious, playful and energetic toddler. Forever grateful to everyone at @MGHBirth and the MGH-NICU who made it possible.
Very excited to share a big part of my PhD work out today @CellCellPress!! https://t.co/N9uwxlfqeV
We found that thymic epithelial cells use lineage-defining transcription factors to disguise themselves as extra-thymic cell types and identify/eliminate autoreactive T cells. 1/9
.@shaleklab, Fortune, @joanneflynn19, @GHPriyadarshini & co use multimodal profiling of #tuberculosis granulomas to reveal cellular correlates of Tb protection that may represent targets for host-directed therapies and vaccines https://t.co/opULUYmFvU
While I view this as a huge step in the right direction, I am hopeful that future arrangements will allow for increased compensation (salary and equity) for trainees willing to take the risk of stepping out of the mainstream for their training.
Excited to see options for PhD trainees at Altos! I hope this will be the first of many opportunities for PhD students to formally train in industry labs.

As a MD-PhD trainee who has worked in biotech, I think there are advantages to a hybrid model (Academic PhD + side gig). But in my experience, this requires trainees to navigate a more ambiguous path to gaining industry experience.
Out today, on the features and ecosystems behind tuberculosis control (or lack thereof)! Even in a single host, TB granulomas can have independent paths: in some, the host immune system will sterilize & kill off bacteria; in others, bacteria survive & thrive long-term. Why? (1/n)
