My heart goes out to the Fairfax family today, particularly the children. For anyone struggling with this kind of darkness, the most courageous thing you can do is ask for help. There is more help and friendship out there than we realize.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10
251 years ago, Patrick Henry stirred the hearts of Virginians to make a stand against tyranny with the words “Give me liberty or give me death.”
Today, Virginians can carry that spirit of liberty against tyranny with just one word: “NO.”
Join me in voting NO on the far-left’s unconstitutional gerrymander and get 10 friends to do the same between now and April 21st. We all need to fight in one direction against this blatantly political power grab that overturns the will of the people.
I always laugh at yo-yo’s who don’t have the 1st clue what information the President had that forced this decision. Even politicians who despise him but were briefed on the situation seem to agree with this operation. I guess lotta podcasters know better. 😂. Gotta keep the lights on somehow. Borderline traitors if you ask me. Iran is a terror nation with a long history of some of the worst human rights atrocities in the world. Nobody disputes that fact. They hate Americans. They hate Israel. They hate all Jews. They hate the West. They would kill us all if given the chance. They just murdered tens of thousands of their own people. The rest of the Middle East is on our side. The Iranian people are on our side. It isn’t that complicated to support our Troops and our country this morning. We are on the right side here. God Bless America . 🇺🇸
Today, his desk in the House Chamber sits empty.
And that emptiness carries weight.
Delegate Barry Knight was the old guard. The grizzled old lion. The kind of man whose respect was earned, and not easily given.
Barry was a farmer first. A man shaped by hard seasons, early mornings, and the understanding that nothing worth building comes easy. He had seen the world evolve, watched politics change, and while he always looked to the future, he never let go of the lessons of the past.
He produced food before he produced budgets.
He understood stewardship long before he chaired Appropriations.
As Chairman, he didn’t treat power as something to display. He treated it as responsibility. He respected the numbers because he respected the people behind the numbers. When Barry spoke, you listened. There was always something to learn from a man who had both dirt under his fingernails and a command of the balance sheet.
And yes…..he was larger than life.
The stories usually involved a helicopter ride, or a hunting or fishing trip somewhere most of us only dream about.
One of my favorites: Barry once called me asking what I knew about Deutz engines. He was looking at a tractor and wanted my opinion. I told him they were solid, dependable engines.
He said, “Good. I’m flying up your way to look at one.”
A few days later, Barry flew his helicopter from Virginia Beach to Front Royal, landed nearby, and went to Rural King to look at a tractor…which he promptly bought. The folks in Front Royal thought it was the coolest thing they’d ever seen.
But that was Barry.
He worked hard. He carried enormous responsibility. And he believed that when life is tough, you deserve to have a little fun too.
Barry Knight was truly one of a kind.
Now his fight is done.
But the example he set - steady leadership, respect for hard work, and a deep love for Virginia…..will remain.
Rest easy, Mr. Chairman.
You earned it.
Christmas is the season of giving, and this year Suzanne and I joined the @USMC and our Patrick Henry Building team to load a truck full of @ToysForTots_USA donations.
Our staff collected 26 bicycles and enough toys to fill twelve full boxes, helping bring the magic of this season to children across the Commonwealth.
I’m honored to earn the trust of my community once again. No matter what antics the Left brings to this next Legislative Session, I’ll keep holding the line for faith, family, and freedom, and I will never stop fighting for the people of Southside and Southwest Virginia.
After what is likely her last time presiding over the @VASenate chamber, #vagov candidate @winwithwinsome offers a final message to Virginia voters #valeg
