It’s opening night for the Tri-City Chili Peppers! ⚾️
Glad to kick off another season of baseball by throwing tonight’s first pitch. Looking forward to a winning season this summer!
Congratulations to Ashton Creek Vineyard in Chester on being the first vineyard in Virginia to receive the Regenerative Farming Pilot Program certification from the USDA. We are proud of your continued efforts in sustainable farming practices.
Hearing that June 22 is the date circulating in the Senate for meeting to finish work on the budget. Have not heard anything about a date from the House.
Meeting that late would give the governor very little time to propose changes before a shutdown would start on July 1.
📺 I spoke with @CamThompsonCBS6 about the Governor’s veto of collective bargaining legislation. Just the cost of additional attorneys for negotiating would be a significant cost for Virginia localities. https://t.co/WLpxp9AEGi
Congratulations to the SOVA Southern Chamber of Commerce for a successful annual dinner! Thank you to all the businesses across our region who contribute so greatly to our economy and community.
On the other side, Republican Delegate Mike Cherry says he's "grateful" for Governor Spanberger's reported veto.
He says, "My localities were very concerned about the increased cost that were potential outcomes of this."
Yesterday I participated in a panel at the @vabusinessk12 launch event. I challenged everyone not to settle for the status quo or rely on accepted talking points, but to really explore ways to make education work for all Virginia students.
In my letter to the Governor last month, I highlighted the steep costs of this legislation and encouraged her to veto the bill. I am glad to see that she will indeed veto this bill. https://t.co/LiI6XsvxL6

This new revelation is incredibly concerning, although not very surprising. I agree with @GlenSturtevant that additional state oversight is warranted. https://t.co/ExwgzGtwC5
The General Assembly adjourned March 14 without a state budget. Nearly two months later, there’s still no state budget. School divisions are now delaying teacher contract renewals because they do not know what their state funding levels will be.
