@JomboyMedia It was clearly the right call. I was 100% ready for them to mess it up. A rare ref win.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@necrontyrr @linus8090 I don't think "a pretty clear structure and a very distinct outro that pairs with the narrative change of pace" makes a song good. You sound like Patrick Bateman talking about music. Name something that's interesting to listen to during the outro.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@necrontyrr @linus8090 Ok I listened to it again. I stand by what I said. Instrumentally, it's kinda slop. Nothing distinct is going on besides that guitar riff in the first half. Dynamically, it reaches a nice peak around 2:40, then sits there for another 3 minutes. It's just too busy to be that long

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@_TylerBurns_ @EllyDeLaMuse @SleeperRoyals Reds fans hate WAR lol. It's like there's an answer in there for why your team is so bad, but you'd rather not engage with it at all and call it fake news.

[Fuck Every 𝐗 Account @fuckeveryacount]

Fuck @Cubs

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@JustBB_Media Sal isn't even top 3 what are we talking about

[Thomas Nestico @TJStats]

@MarkKahnWI Teams that dip into the luxury tax already contribute to the pool. The penalties could be significantly harsher

If the owners cared about competitive balance, they would not present a cap as the only solution. It is clear all they care about is cutting costs

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@TheWARmonger_ @TheWayOfWade @TheSkippersView Torres got that first step!

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@hockeypronouns @JeffCuse @BadWeathers40 I think anyone that's pro-floor/anti-cap is also pro- aggressive revenue sharing that's completely earmarked for payroll. If the small owners really want to compete, they would want it as well.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@JeffCuse @hockeypronouns @BadWeathers40 Skubal saying he's going to LA next year no matter what tells me it's more about the ring than the money for him.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@hockeypronouns @JeffCuse @BadWeathers40 Success begets success. Players want to sign with winning teams, teams that have history to uphold, teams that have great fanbases etc.
That's why the iconic teams won't stop winning after a Cap. You have to incentivize and penalize the terrible teams.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@CardinalsYoshi @GageEHC https://t.co/QBxHZJ2AqV
That's just not true.
How could a cap possibly help players? The top players still end up making an outsized slice of the pie, while everyone else makes even less.
The owners' proposal also limits contract length, which is a death sentence for vets.

[Trev-The-Beast @TrevTheBeast10]

The selfish MLBPA proposed:

-League minimum of $1.5M
-Expanding Pre-Arbitration bonus pool to $180M
-Expanding pool of players who can enter arbitration
-A competitive integrity tax of $150M
-Significant revenue sharing

The caring owners offered:

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@blogredmachine You don't get credit for positions you could conceivably play, except in trade value. JJ is a natural shortstop. I bet he could play anywhere he tried! Ichiro could've hit 400 HRs if he wanted to. You don't get credit for your fantasies!

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@JeffCuse @hockeypronouns @BadWeathers40 Dude you keep driving home market size, and have to change your numbers because you forgot about the Cardinals in '11 and the Marlins in '03...
Everyone agrees something needs to happen. The argument is that a Cap isn't a solution. It's just convenient for owners right now.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@CardinalsYoshi @GageEHC We aren't the ones negotiating. There's just no reason to defend the owners. I watch baseball for the players and the game, not for Bill Jr's bank account.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@CardinalsYoshi @GageEHC Absolutely a floor, but that doesn't make anyone compete.
Penalties for teams that finish below a threshold 5 years in a row.
Revenue sharing that goes 100% toward payroll.
Open books so owners can't hoard money and cry "unable to compete."
Baseball is a very profitable business.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@JeffCuse @BadWeathers40 It was in 2017. And they won that year with the #17 payroll

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@CardinalsYoshi @GageEHC Mr. Yoshi, my Cardinals brother,
First of all, it's an honor.
Big Bill Jr. is among the wealthiest owners in baseball. You don't have to defend him. I love what Chaim has been doing, but it never had to be this way.
(And the NFL isn't that simple, they're just paid that way)

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@JeffCuse @BadWeathers40 And honestly, complaining about some player "making $5 million a game" just grinds my gears. Whatever an athlete makes, they make for the whole year. The season doesn't start and end with game time.
And most NFL players make the minimum to make room for the star contracts.

[Isaiah @TreeProphet]

@JeffCuse @BadWeathers40 NFL players are absolutely being fleeced. With what their bodies go through, they should be the highest paid players in sports.
With the cap, QBs get an outsized slice of the pie and pretty much everyone else gets the shaft.
Why would MLB players agree to that kind of system?
