Did you know that without trees we would hardly be able to breathe due to air pollution, traffic exhaust, heat and industrial fumes? Our air would be completely polluted. The forests and trees clean our air and filter out particles that are harmful to us. More trees.💚🌲🌳🌱🍀💚
Noble Street Oak. Assimilated into urban environs effortlessly. Prob existed well before this street.
Slow growers and sensitive trees. But should be given more of a chance in urban planting, supporting 284 insect species. Good for 🐦 🐝
#NationalTreeWeek starts tomorrow, and planting season has already started in some areas. 🌳🌳

“Before landscapes die, they first vanish in the imagination”. This is the story of a small brook on the outskirts of London, the Aldersbrook, which has survived against the odds, but in the worst state imaginable, & my attempts to act as a guardian of this river & its rights🧵
Sometimes I really feel the limits of photography. I always try to get an image to convey a mood as much as a view, but I wish you could have also smelt the damp, rich earth on this lane, heard the gentle patter of the leaves drifting down, and felt the soft mist on your face.
What a difference a deer fence makes. Nothing but grasses and bracken surviving on the left. On the right, saplings are thriving - alder, oak, birch, hazel and a few Scots pine. Some planted but a lot of regen. Nearby old growth wood makes the latter possible.
1/ TV-EKEN is perhaps the most famous tree in Sweden and has featured in numerous debates, tv-shows and newspapers. The huge oak used to live a quiet life on a field just outside of Stockholm.⬇️
Wasn’t expecting to see one of these today! It’s a Giant Redwood tree aka Sequoiadendron giganteum, the oldest known living example is thought to be 2,300-2,700 years old. Sadly, they’re endangered in their native California, making this one in south County Dublin very special!
