@p_f_lees@davies_dai82861@SBarnesRugby Last Autumn England would be winning with Marcus on the pitch, he would be subbed off and then England would go on to lose it. Seems harsh to blame Marcus for a game which was lost while he wasn't on the pitch
@_jonathan_young@ajsrugby No, England have built their attacking structure now under Wigglesworth, Blackett's job is to add, not subtract from that. He'll be adding the detail that England need, particularly in the wide channels, to go from a very good attacking team to an elite one
@rdramanet >Sneeding over a 2 year old post
Rdrama isn't sending its best
Also renewables are sick, around a month ago the wholesale price of energy in the UK went negative because the grid was 100% renewable. My energy company literally paid me to have the heating on, it was great
@SusanPotter@MikeCerulliCT Basically every normal member of society agrees that random acts of violence are bad. Some people think that politically motivated acts of violence can be justified in a "the ends justify the means" kind of way. To maintain a stable society, that thinking must be rejected always
@rugby_ap It's not fundamentally broken as a concept, but it needs to explicitly not talk about controversial moments. There's plenty of value in a show with Nigel talking about interesting scenarios that came up in the game, but there's no value in just adding fuel to an existing fire
@cornwall_fraser@RugbySaracens@CharlieFelix@chrisjonespress No, but as I said, his teams have never exactly been on the cutting-edge of tactics anyway. To me he's basically rugby's equivalent of Sean Dyche — smart signings, simple tactics, and mental toughness to make a team which is difficult (but very possible) to beat
@RugbySaracens@CharlieFelix@chrisjonespress Dimes to me always seemed best at value-for-money signings and creating mentally/physically tough teams, rather than someone coming up with cutting-edge tactics and systems. If you want to avoid relegation he's your guy, less so if you want to challenge for trophies
@jwfnqi@marcvelitrae@GuzKhanOfficial I have no stake in this fight, but Palestine Action broke into an RAF base and damaged a fighter jet (one of any country's most valuable strategic assets). That is clearly a different level than what's being discussed here
@GaryGotlib@will_owen9 When you run forward your centre of gravity rises, and you have a lot more forwards momentum, which mean it can be difficult to change direction at short notice. A badminton player never runs, because they need to change direction so often
@EyeOnStalk@Mekarrrr@tracewoodgrains I'm not sure why you're going with the "no one said that" argument for something which was only 5 years ago, I can distinctly remember people in the media saying precisely that
@tracewoodgrains This (https://t.co/sbEAs4GRq1) is an excellent introduction to what it's about. And if you watch it, just keep in mind that it's got *significantly* more complex in the 9 years since this video came out
@tracewoodgrains Related to the speedrunning comment, I'm personally a fan of the Mario 64 "A" button challenge (basically, no jumping allowed). It's basically increasingly complex and convoluted solutions to a problem which doesn't really exist in the first place (you can just jump!)
@tom_swiss@mathillustrated You're completely right, asking an astrologer would be a terrible way to go about it. You might get better results from an astronomer, however 🤷♂️ More seriously though, Trace is referring to specific issues within US education research/policy, so the argument doesn't generalise
@vazserox@tracewoodgrains "Colonisation is when a smaller ethnic group is allowed to exist independently next to a great power. Decolonisation is when a great power conquers, genocides and replaces its neighbours out of a desire to bring back a past Empire"
@gallagherbren58@Boetkooin@Gibson_XL@will_owen9@rugby_ap So go on, which laws out of the 119 pages would you cut out? Would you remove the section on allowable pitch dimensions? How about the laws on how a match is to be timed? Or about how each player should be bound prior to a scrum? Surely you have some concrete suggestions, right?
