Statement from the family of Alex Pretti, Michael and Susan Pretti:
“We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.
The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you”
ICE agents caught on video threatening Mainers with a "nice little database."
"Now you're classified as domestic terrorist," says the masked agent, gleefully.
ICE must be kicked out of Maine. Their "database" must be erased. Those responsible must answer for their crimes.
“'The whole thing is fucking senseless,' he said. 'I gave up trying to understand it.'
Understand what, I asked.
'The purpose of why we’re out here. Why we’re in the streets.'"
In depth interviews with a mortified National Guardsman in DC, via @washingtonian:
Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people no matter their immigration status."
Breaking news: An employee of El Paso County’s Office of the Medical Examiner said it is likely to classify the death of Geraldo Lunas Campos at an ICE detention center as a homicide. A detainee says he witnessed Campos being choked to death by guards. https://t.co/qJ9D16XaWy
.@ezraklein: “What is, to you, the ‘rage economy’?”
@JamesTalarico: “The billionaires own the algorithms and the news networks. They have created for-profit platforms that divide us on an hourly basis — by party, by race, by gender, by religion. They elevate the most extreme voices very strategically to provoke our outrage, because that leads to more clicks, which leads to more money for them.
They are selling us conflict right into our bloodstream, and they’re calling it connection.
And I think it’s left people starving for actual community.”

AOC: I don't care if someone likes me or not. That will never change the fact that I'm going to fight for them to have health care. I want MAGA to have health care. I want MAGA to be paid a living wage.
But he doesn't want people based on their political affiliation to benefit. And that is the difference between an authoritarian and a leader of a democracy.
Florida still has not released the number of people being detained at what they call “Alligator Alcatraz” – but for the first time, we’re hearing from several men who are being held inside the facility. https://t.co/CgSc11F54P
Seven of the cited sources in the MAHA report don’t appear to exist at all.
“The paper cited is not a real paper that I or my colleagues were involved with,” Keyes told NOTUS via email.

Without warning, he was sent to El Salvador.
