Canadian Real GDP growth expectations for 2026 continue to grind lower. Tariffs are not helping, but they are a distraction.
Canada is facing years of weak growth because of a 'productivity emergency' (BOC's words), and no mass migration and housing speculation to paper over it.
Years of childish industrial policy are coming home to roost.
The most environmental action Canada can take for the world is export our resources and take care of our forests.
Our geography is a blessing and a responsibility.
Instead, the Liberals want to spend tens of billions of dollars pumping CO2 into the ground, red taped our industries so countries rely on coal and production from places with no standards, destroy our coastal rainforests and let our mismanaged inland forests burn out of control.
The private sector would have built the TMX expansion project for $7B. The government chased them out of Canada and built it themselves for $35B.
The private sector now doesn't want to touch another pipeline project.
The government is stepping in to mismanage the construction of another project that will cost $45B of taxpayer dollars.
To build the pipeline, the governments also have to spend $20B+ on the uneconomical carbon capture project.
So taxpayers will pay $90B for something the private sector would have done themselves for $20B if the government just got out of the way.
Completely unacceptable waste and mismanagement.
💥The Export of Crude Oil is to the Benefit of ALL Canadians.💥This is because the standard of living of ALL Canadians depends on the export of Crude Oil.
💥
Crude Oil generates a massive, structural surplus on the trade balance. Strip it out, and Canada faces a painful rebalancing: internally, through austerity and reduced consumption, or externally, through a weaker dollar and higher inflation. Either way, the adjustment means austerity and a lower standard of living. The brunt of which lands on Working-Class people.
Canada is particularly vulnerable to this type of shock (i.e. devaluation) due to its anemic productivity growth, shrinking Private CAPEX, high indebtedness, and the record share of foreign ownership of its bonds.
Canada's politicians and the media would do well to accept this reality and stop lying to Canadians.

🇨🇦 Apparently food inflation has nothing to do with carbon taxes, tariffs, transport costs, energy costs, packaging costs, labour costs, or regulation.
It's just bad luck.
And if you ask questions about why Canada has some of the highest food inflation in the G7, you're told to stop noticing.

Mark Carney. Condo bailout. Public record.
📌 $3B to buy vacant condos developers won’t discount
📌 4,376 empty units in Vancouver - 76% jump year over year
📌 A third cost over $1 million
📌 Carney holds $6.8M USD Brookfield options
📌 Brookfield embedded in Canadian real estate and infrastructure
📌 Zero conflict of interest investigation
📌 Zero CBC inquiry
📌 Zero opposition from Liberal commentators
Imagine the headlines if Harper’s name was on this file.

So, I've slept on it, and I am still incensed about this condo bailout.
Mining and Oil & Gas companies have to beg, BEG, to sell our natural resources, which pay Canadians billions in taxes and royalties.
And then the Feds give that money to condo developers who "don't want to sell at a loss".
Are you effing kidding me?
Anyway, let the BOC know I've solved the mystery of Canada's weak productivity!
Produce the things he have in abundance, that the rest of the World wants. Oil, gas, sulphur, lumber, coal, aluminum, wheat, canola, gold, diamonds, potash, polyethylene, styrene.
Trade that for things we don't have. Cars, avocadoes, radios, clothing, planes, television.
Stick to what we're good at doing, and stop competing in markets we're not.
It's not rocket science, but it means people will have to work in productive industries instead of just working form home 4-days a week in non-value added job.
We need to face facts: neglecting, suppressing & actually working AGAINST Resource Development for 10 years was possibly the STUPIDEST move any Canadian Government has ever made
Ignoring the truth that selling houses to each other at higher & higher prices was a crap plan
4/
It will likely take 10 or 20 years for Canada to recover economically from the breathtaking stupidity of Guilbeault & Trudeau
Let's hope we never forget or forgive their betrayal of their Country on the alter of Climate Insanity
Do you understand how insane Mark Carney's requirement for the Pathways Project is before a pipeline to the West Coast can be built?
A pipeline to the West Coast will be about $30B.
Pathways Project will also cost around $30B.
That's 100% penalty for doing business in Canada.
Completely ludicrous.
🚨 RBC confirmed it.
Since the Liberals took power in 2015:
🇨🇦 $1 TRILLION in investment
left Canada.
Not billion.
TRILLION.
📍 For every $1 that came in —
$2 walked out the door.
📍 Canada now ranks DEAD LAST
in the G7 for machinery & equipment investment.
📍 GDP per capita growth —
lowest since the Great Depression.
📍 Honda — $15 Billion gone
📍 Ford — $2.3 Billion gone
📍 GM — $2 Billion gone
📍 Northvolt — $7 Billion bankrupt
📍 Carbon tax rising to $130/tonne
📍 Secret deal signed with Beijing
And Carney’s response?
A photo op summit in Toronto
to beg back the money his party spent a decade chasing away.
This isn’t bad luck. 🇨🇦
This isn’t a rough patch.
This is the most expensive policy failure in Canadian history.

How much carbon do Bombardier jets spew into the atmosphere every year? And how many tax dollars does Bombardier receive from the Liberals every year without any conditions or MOUs?
Just curious.
“Give them a massive amount of oil, agricultural land, copper, freshwater, and every natural resource in the world. Now make them neighbors with the biggest market in the world. Great, now have them leave the resources in the ground and instead flip condos to each other”.
The chart is from William below… give him a follow. Regardless how you feel about Canadian oil and gas, look at the Y axis, just look at the numbers…in Billions, SHARE with others… Please understand the importance of these numbers, that’s all I’m asking…3 months of contributions..taxes and royalties, no justice…no thank you from greasy Ottawa politicians…🫡🪒
If you are wondering why CEOs are getting more pointed, it is because they see the enormous opportunity laying at our country’s feet, but our political leaders are still not bending down to pick it up.
Let’s act with some urgency for once. Let’s attract some @%#! investment.
